Greg Collins

Greg CollinsGreg Collins has been climbing since 1974, and teaching/guiding since 1982. He has spent considerable time guiding in the Tetons, with over 200 ascents of the Grand Teton, 20 of them in winter.  He has made 10 ascents of Mt. McKinley, including the first ascent of the Washburn Wall, 2 ascents of Mt. Foraker, and over 50 other Alaskan summits.

Expeditions in Asia include: Lukpila Brakk, Latok I, K2-Abruzzi Spur, Gasherbrum I, in the Karakoram, and a new route on Cholatse, in the Khumbu Nepal. Greg is the author of Lander Rock, a rock climbing guide to Central Wyoming, where he has opened many of 5.12 and 5.13 routes. Greg is a Level III Avalanche instructor.

Greg enjoys climbing Denali, a mountain he has been familiar with since first reaching the summit in 1988 and 10 times since. In addition to the West Buttress, he has guided the remote Muldrow Glacier, Karstens Ridge route twice, two times up the technical West Rib, as well as a south to north traverse with a Fathers Day summit. He has also made several speed ascents of Denali, but prefers to get into the mountain’s rhythms and patiently offer everyone a successful summit.
