John Race
John Race has been working on Mount Rainier since 1989 and Denali since 1990. John started guiding when he was 20, and never seemed to move onto what most folks would call a "real job." A full-time guide John splits his year between Mount Rainier, Alaska, various mountains in the Himalayas, and a half dozen other climbing hotspots. In the past 17 seasons, John has logged over 2000 days guiding in the mountains. John is an AMGA Certified Alpine and Rock Guide. He passed his ski exam in 2006, thus becoming an IFMGA guide. John is also a certified Wilderness First Responder (WFR), and carries a level 3 Avalanche certification, and an AIARE level 1 Instructors certification.
