Mt. Rainier: August 21st Summit!

Our Four Day Summit Climb Team led by Adam Knoff reached the summit of Mt. Rainier today.  There was a cloud cap with a bit of wind on top, but as the team started their descent the cap was beginning to dissipate and the weather was getting clear.  The team is en route to Camp Muir and expected back to Ashford Basecamp this afternoon.

Mt. Rainier: August 20th Summit!

This morning the RMI summit climbs reached Washington’s highest point, Columbia Crest on Mt. Rainier!  The weather was great with some winds around 25 mph, a little chilly but really nice.  The Four Day Summit Climb left the crater rim to start their descent back to Camp Muir at 7:50 a.m.

Mt. Rainier: August 19th Update

Summit! Today’s Mt. Rainier teams led by Seth Waterfall and Geoff Schellens reached the top!  The teams were in a heavy cloud cap with light winds.  Report from Camp Muir is 10 - 15 mph winds, sporadic rain from the southwest but clearing.  Both summit climb teams began their descent by 7:40 a.m.

RMI Guide Billy Nugent is starting the Expedition Skills Seminar – Emmons and is at Rainier Basecamp today for their technical training.

Mt. Rainier: August 18th Summit!

RMI Guides J.J. Justman and Leon Davis led their teams to the summit of Mt. Rainier this morning.  The Four Day Summit Climb teams reported very warm conditions with little to no wind and clear skies.  They were able to spend some time on Columbia Crest before starting their descent.  As of 7:37 am they had descended to the top of Disappointment Cleaver en route to Camp Muir.

Our Four Day Summit Climb Teams led by RMI Guides Casey Grom and Jake Beren reached the top of Mt. Rainier today.  Jake reported moderate winds, warm temperatures and hazy skies.  The team enjoyed some time on the summit and started their descent to Camp Muir at about 7:42 am.

Mt. Rainier: August 16th Summit!

The Four Day Summit Climb August 13 - 16, 2012, led by RMI Guide Solveig Waterfall reached the summit of Mt. Rainier at 6:30 a.m. this morning.  They reported a beautiful day on the mountain with clear skies, light wind and warm temperatures.  The team began their descent from the crater rim at 7:30 a.m. 

RMI Guide Adam Knoff and the Expedition Skills Seminar - Paradise completed their six day program with a summit of Mt. Rainier this morning.  The team began their descent from the top shortly after 8:00 a.m.  They will return to Camp Muir and spend some time repacking their gear before continuing their descent to Paradise later this afternoon.

Mt. Rainier: August 15th Summit!

Our Four Day Summit Climb Teams led by Dave Hahn and Geoff Schellens reached the summit of Mt. Rainier early this morning.  Dave and Geoff reported great conditions on the mountain with clear views all around. The teams have started their descent and are on en route to Camp Muir.

Mike Walter and team also reached the summit of Mt. Rainier via the Emmons Glacier route.  The team reported beautiful weather.  The have started their descent back to Camp Schurman.

Mt Rainier: August 14th Summit!

The Four Day Summit Climbs August 11 - 14, 2012 reached the summit of Mt. Rainier this morning.  The teams reported a beautiful day with 25-30 mph winds and clear skies.  RMI Guides Brent Okita, Tim Hardin and Andres Marin started down from the crater rim with their teams around 7:30 a.m.  They will return to Camp Muir and then continue their descent to Paradise later this afternoon.

The Expedition Skills Seminar - Paradise crew moved to 9,000’ on Monday and set up camp where they will remain until Wednesday morning.  They watched a beautiful sunset last night.  Today the team practiced fixed line travel on a 60 degree slope and are currently hanging out in crevasses.

Mt. Rainier: August 13th Update

Casey Grom and Gabriel Barral led their Mt. Rainier summit climb teams to the summit this morning.  The guides reported light winds and mostly clear skies.  Both teams began their descent from the crater rim at 8:00 a.m.

Mike Walter left this morning for the Five-Day Emmons Climb. Mike and his team will spend four days on the mountain as they summit from the Schurman/Emmons Route.

The Expedition Skills Seminar - Paradise began their climb yesterday.  The team had a great day yesterday adjusting to the heavy loads of multi-day packs. They arrived at Camp One in great shape and did a general mountaineering school before dinner.  We will be moving to Camp Two at 9,000 feet today.  All is well on the Paradise Glacier.

Mt. Rainier: August 12th Summit!

Our Four Day Summit Climbs led by RMI Guides JJ Justman and Pete Van Deventer called from the “tippy tippy top of Columbia Crest” this morning.  Pete reported his team reached the summit of Mt. Rainier at 6:45 and the teams began their descent just before 8:00am.  Pete reported the conditions as: light wind, sunny, clear skies, super nice, and relatively warm.
