Mount Rainier Update

2006 has been a successful season here on Mount Rainier. Since June 18, climbing teams have been on the summit every single day!

We are very pleased to announce that the National Park Service has awarded RMI the primary concession contract for mountain guiding on Mount Rainier. This ten year contract will allow RMI to continue guiding as we have since 1968 and also expand our expeditions to include climbs on the Emmons-Winthrop Route.

Climbers at 13,800' on a RMI Seminar

And for you Rainier veterans that want to build your mountaineering skills, consider our Expedition Skills Seminar (ESS). This is our high altitude expedition preparation seminar. The course utilizes multiple routes on Mount Rainier and trains climbers in glacier travel, expedition camping, crevasse rescue, ice climbing, fixed line climbing, navigation and route finding. This is the perfect primer for big-mountain climbing.
