After taking a year long break, living in New Zealand and Australia, Leon is returning to RMI for his third season guiding. Before he started climbing, Leon spent most of his time as a long-distance backpacker, completing a new 1,000 mile trail along the state of North Carolina as well as a thru-hike of the John Muir Trail in the high Sierra's. Nowadays, Leon spends his time climbing in the US and abroad, honing his rock skills in places like Mt. Arapiles, and the Grampians in Australia, and Joshua Tree, California. Leon has summited Mt. Rainier less than 100 times but more than once! He has numerous summits of peaks in the North Cascades, and of Denali in Alaska. Leon currently divides his time between the US and New Zealand, where he is working towards becoming a resident.
