Crevasse Rescue School

Our one-day introduction to crevasse rescue techniques has set the standard for instructional excellence since the late 1980’s. Highly experienced and talented guides facilitate your learning of the key skills needed for team- and self-rescue, including:

  • Effective team arrest
  • Proper placement of snow anchors
  • Crevasse rescue equipment selection
  • Hitches and knots and their correct applications
  • Crevasse site safety
  • Building C-pulley and Z-pulley raising systems
  • Crevasse self-rescue
  • Complete rescue scenario simulations

These critical crevasse rescue skills are must-know topics for all mountaineers, and especially for climb leaders. In this course various rescue problems will be presented and solved as a group, with the objective of being able to perform effective and efficient crevasse rescue in the mountains. This is an excellent refresher or supplementary course for anyone wanting to learn the latest in modern crevasse rescue techniques. A detailed course outline with important pre-class reading will be provided upon confirmation. We look forward to sharing an exciting and educational day with you.
