About Eryka
Eryka will quickly tell you that mountains have directed the course of her life. Beginning with a childhood along the shores of Lake Superior in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, her family never ventured to warmth for vacations. Instead, they pursued mountains and typically with skis on their feet. The addiction didn’t end with childhood and Eryka pursued an Anthropology degree in Bozeman at Montana State University. She still spends her winters in Montana working as a professional ski patroller at Big Sky Ski Resort.
Mountaineering first left its mark on Eryka’s life through an expedition in Alaska’s Chugach Range. Returning from Alaska, Eryka moved to Oregon to begin her first exploration of the Cascades. Through her Alaska, Northwest and Montana experiences, her passion for mountains has only grown. In addition to skiing, Eryka spends her time ice and rock climbing, mountaineering, hiking, biking, and on white water river trips. Eryka’s goal in teaching and guiding is to share her passion for mountains with others in the hope of leaving them with an understanding and appreciation for the high altitude environments of the world.
