The Mountain Guides at Rainier Mountaineering, Inc. are among the best in the United States. Years of expedition guiding around the world, including some of America's first ventures into the far reaches of the Himalaya, have built a guide core that is unsurpassed. Mount Rainier has long been considered the premiere training ground for Alaskan and Himalayan expeditions, and the guides who have built their reputation here, as well as the reputation of RMI, reflect that history.
Our guides are celebrated teachers and trainers, and are known for their leadership, as well as character - the sort of compassion, enthusiasm and ability to empower others found only in people at the top of their profession. Though their experience is vast, RMI guides still remember their own first steps into the mountains, and place a special emphasis on client care.
Each guide is held to the highest mountain guide training standards, including:
- Medical Training - Wilderness First Responder
- Avalanche Awareness - US Level I and Level II
- Search and Rescue (SAR) - Technical Rescue Training and Mountaineering Search and Rescue Training
- Environmental Education - Leave No Trace
