Moving Up On Ice Workshop
Take your range of mountain skills to a new level. New Hampshire's Mount Washington Valley is a excellent training area to learn or refine your ice climbing skills. RMI Guide Kel Rossiter, owner of Adventure Spirit Rock+Ice+Alpine Experiences in Vermont, is offering a one-day ice climbing workshop February 25th. Take advantage of this one of a kind opportunity!
Integrating ice climbing skills into your climbing kit opens up a spectrum of interesting alpine objectives. Whether you've considered Mount Baker's North Ridge, Peruvian gems like Alpamayo, or Alaskan objectives in the Ruth Gorge, this workshop will be a valuable tool in moving forward—and upward!
During this day-long workshop we will cover the following topics and techniques:
- Ice climbing equipment terminology and use.
- Appropriate belay procedures.
- Basic knots for technical climbing.
- Cramponing fundementals and effective ice tool technique in vertical ice terrain.
- Advanced ice climbing techniques.
The gradual progression of teaching and implementing ice climbing techniques will ensure that participants find ice climbing a natural and rewarding activity. Instruction will focus on each climber's abilities and will come from Kel Rossiter, an RMI guide who is an experienced ice climber and passionate teacher. Use this unique opportunity to increase your skillset to tackle more technically demanding mountain climbs.
