Mount Rainier Recreational Forecast
National Weather Service Seattle WA
459 AM PDT Wed Oct 18 2017

.SYNOPSIS...Stormy weather is expected through Thursday morning,
with very strong wind across alpine terrain, heavy precipitation,
and fog. Snow levels will be rising to near 8500 feet today, but
then a cold front on Thursday morning will start to bring snow
levels down. Heavy precipitation will taper to numerous showers on
Thursday, with numerous showers and a colder air mass continuing
Friday. On Saturday and Sunday, a strong warm front will bring
another significant round of heavy precipitation and strong wind
to the mountain. Precipitation will taper off on Monday, then mild
and dry conditions look most likely next Tuesday.

&&

.IMPACTS...Stormy weather will create difficult backcountry
skiing and mountaineering conditions across much of the alpine
terrain of Mt. Rainier, including the Muir snowfield. Blizzard-
like conditions with strong winds and near zero visibility are

including use of GPS, is recommended for navigation and camping in
these conditions.
