About

Growing up in Ohio, Eric was a flatlander for the first half of his life. Family trips “Out West” served as an opportunity to experience the mountains. After graduating from Miami University, Eric moved west of the Rockies. In subsequent years, despite having a finance degree, Eric has guided year round and explored most of the notable ranges in the States. Every type of climbing - rock, ice and alpine capture his attention. As a senior guide at RMI, Eric guides programs in Washington, Alaska and various international locations. When not in the mountains, he resides in Seattle and enjoys reading, cooking and bicycling.

Best part of my Job

Working with someone who is struggling, and eventually making it to the summit despite their desire to give up earlier in the climb.

Off Season Activities

Raising two young kids and finding chances to go to warm beaches with my family

Why RMI?

A sense of enjoying the experience rather than focusing on the summit. Enjoying the process is a central part of what drives me to spend time in the mountains.
