About

Gabe grew up on a farm on a small island in British Columbia, Canada, where he spent much of his time outside exploring. In his late teens, his passion for backcountry travel led him to climbing. Soon after, he enrolled in a NOLS mountaineering course in Chilean Patagonia, where he developed a strong technical foundation.

Since then, he has continued to build experience in alpine climbing throughout the Pacific Northwest, the Canadian Rockies, Alaska, and Kyrgyzstan. After completing a degree in cognitive science, he shifted his focus toward guiding and spending more time in the mountains. He enjoys sharing those experiences with others.

When he’s not in the mountains, Gabe can be found working on his family’s farm, sailing and boating with friends, freediving, bowhunting, or still looking for a hobby that allows him to sit still.

Best part of my Job

Hearing the diversity in everyone's stories. The mountains have a way of stripping people down to who they really are, and it is a privilege to witness that.

Off Season Activities

Growing and raising organic food, Long expeditions in the mountains, snowboarding, etc.

Why RMI?

I hope clients leave with the confidence that they're capable of more than they realized, and an appreciation for the dynamic simplicity of the mountains. There's a real serenity in focusing only on your breath and your next step while moving through terrain this beautiful and complex.
