Julian grew up in Boise, Idaho and was introduced to the outdoors at a very young age when he was put on skis at the age of two years old. He has a bachelor’s degree from Colorado Mesa University. During his time in Colorado, Julian found a real love for desert climbing, alpine climbing, ice climbing, and chasing the weird side of adventure. In his free time, he like to draw, sew gear, and annoy the people around him with his lack of tin whistle skills.

Skill Development
The Expedition Skills Seminar – Emmons is a six-day mountaineering course that pairs focused skills instruction with a true expedition-style ascent of Mount Rainier via the Emmons Glacier. Designed for climbers preparing for larger, more remote objectives, the program emphasizes learning through movement, using the scale, duration, and complexity of the route to build durable technical foundations.
Following initial technical training and a Mountaineering Day School, the team transitions onto the Emmons route, establishing successive tented camps as the climb progresses. Instruction is integrated directly into the terrain, allowing climbers to practice and refine essential skills under increasing commitment. The seminar culminates with a summit attempt from high camp at Camp Schurman, reinforcing expedition pacing, decision-making, and systems-based climbing in a remote alpine environment.
