About

Layne grew up in Eastern Washington and discovered his love for the outdoors during college, where he was first introduced to rock climbing, skiing, and mountaineering. Since then, he’s traveled extensively across the U.S. and abroad, visiting over 20 countries to climb and ski. He is based in Montana outside of the summer guide season doing social work and general construction. Layne is passionate about helping others connect with the outdoors and grow through challenges and believes in the power of shared adventure to build resilience, confidence, and lasting impact. His approach is shaped by a diverse background that includes youth outdoor programs, youth ministry, social work, and community development, alongside years of experience guiding for companies like RMI.

Best part of my Job

I love getting to help others connect with themselves and the outdoors through facing challenges amidst shared adventure to build resilience, confidence, and lasting impact in their lives.

Off Season Activities

Social work, Custom Home Building, Substitute Teaching, and all things outside in Nature

Why RMI?

That they know themselves better and where their limits are as well as gain a more robust love and compassion for the mountains and those who decide to venture into them.
