Mt. Rainier: Four Day Summit Climbs Turn at 13,300’

The Four Day Summit Climb August 12 - 15 led by RMI Guide Geoff Schellens turned around today at 13,300’ due to difficult terrain.  The team reported a nice day with calm winds. The team will return to Camp Muir and continue their descent to Paradise later today.

Mt. Rainier: August 14th Five Day Summit Climb Update

TheFive Day Summit Climb led by RMI guide Hannah McGowan reached the top of Disappointment Cleaver today. The team was unable to summit today due to current route conditions. The team will spend some time at Camp Muir before starting their descent to Paradise.

Mt. Rainier: August 14th Update

The Four Day Summit Climb led by RMI Guide Brent Okita reached the top of Disappointment Cleaver today. Due to route conditions the team was unable to travel any further up the mountain. The team will spend some time at Camp Muir before descending back to Paradise.

Mt. Rainier: Poor Weather Keeps Four Day Summit Climb Teams from Summit

The Four Day Summit Climb August 10 - 13 was unable to reach the summit of Mt. Rainier today.  Poor weather delayed the team from leaving Camp Muir this morning.  Unable to make their alpine start, the team did opt to ascend to Ingraham Flats which will be their high point today.  RMI Guide Robby Young reported that the weather had improved and they were above the clouds as the reached 12,000’.  The team will return to Camp Muir and descend to Paradise today.

Congratulations Erika and company!  WOW!  This is an amazing accomplishment.  I know it is not the top but the journey to get where you have gotten is something to be proud of. It is always good to work with mother nature and appreciate her messages. I am glad you all listen to that, to climb another day.

Mt. Rainier: Four Day Climb Reaches the Summit

RMI Guides Casey Grom and JM Gorum led their teams to the Mt. Rainier summit this morning.  It was clear on top with some smoky air, due to the British Columbia wildfires, on the lower flanks of the mountain.  The team is making great progress on their descent back to Camp Muir.

Mt. Rainier: Emmons Seminar Reaches the Top!

The Emmons Seminar team, led by RMI Guide Christina Dale, summitted Mt. Rainier this morning.  At 12:20 pm the team was back at Camp Schurman where they will stay for the night and descend tomorrow.  Christina reported that 100% of the team reached the top!  Congratulations!!!

Mt. Rainier: August 8th Update

RMI Guide Ty Reid and the summit climb team were approaching the true summit of Mt. Rainier, Columbia Crest, at 6:20 a.m.  The weather is warm and not smoky above 12,500’.  By 8:35 a.m. the team was at the top of Disappointment Cleaver on their descent.

Mt. Rainier: August 8th Five Day Summit Climb Team Reaches the Top!

The Five Day Summit Climb led by RMI Guide Solveig Waterfall reached the summit of Mt. Rainier early this morning.  Solveig and team spent two nights at Camp Muir taking advantage of extra day to acclimate to the higher elevation. This payed off with a successful climb this morning! The team has started their descent and are en route back to Camp Muir.

Mt. Rainier: Young & Team Summit!

At 6:40 am the Mt. Rainier summit climb team started their descent from the crater rim.  Lead Guide Robby Young reported a smoky haze below the summit but clear skies at the top.  The team is currently working their way back to Camp Muir.
