Mt. Rainier: Four Day Climb Turns on Upper Mountain

The Four Day Climb teams led by Seth Burns and Jackson Breen reached a high point of 12,300 feet on Disappointment Cleaver before making the decision to turn around. Despite the clear skies above, recent storm snow, challenging route conditions, and difficult travel all contributed to the call to stop their ascent short of the summit.

Well done to the team for their hard work!

Sometimes it is wise to turn around. It’s a hard decision, yet most likely the right one. Live to see another day, then try again! Great update! God Bless!

Being on the safe side is always a good choice.  Been there done that on the Emmons Glacier Route years ago. Maybe next time you’ll reach the summit.
Keep on trekking.

Mt. Rainier: Coppolillo & Kautz Seminar Team Summit!

The Expedition Skills Seminar - Kautz June 19 - 24 led by RMI Guides Henry Coppolillo, Dylan Anderson, Margo Kerr, and Aidan Whitelaw reached the summit of Mt. Rainier just before 10 am today. Henry reported beautiful weather and great route conditions. The team spent a few minutes in the crater before starting their descent. They will return to their high camp for one more night on the mountain and some additional training.  Tomorrow they will retrace their steps to Paradise and conclude their program at Rainier BaseCamp in the afternoon.

Way to go climbers!

The Four Day Climb June 15 - 18 led by RMI Guides Dominic Cifelli and Felipe Guarderas reached 13,600ft this morning before high winds and route conditions turned them around. The team had descended to the top of Disppointment Cleaver, 12,500', by 7 am and are continuing to make their way back to Camp Muir. After a short break, they will continue from Camp Muir to Paradise. We expect them to return to Rainier BaseCamp this afternoon.
