Weather ultimately dictates everything on these long expeditions and there’s certainly no exception for our Team. Our agenda had us moving to Camp 2 this morning but we awoke to 40 mph winds and gusts of up to 60 mph here at Camp 1! Alas! You win again Aconcagua! Spirits remain high though as our forecasts call for more cooperating winds starting tomorrow and extending into early next week. So today we rest and prepare ourselves for the move to Camp 2 tomorrow. Best regards from all of us at Aconcagua’s Camp 1.

Hi Lew- Hope the wind subsides soon and you can begin the next leg. Watching it all with great anticipation. You’re the man!

Steve and team,

You have the right attitude. You don’t conquer mountains or weather you look to manage according to what they offer you.

I hope they offer you a nice summit window.

Hike well and be safe.

Hi Lew—we are watching with so much excitement.  Your ears must be burning because I am talking about you always!  We miss you bunches but are so happy for you following your dreams.  We can’t wait to see pictures and hear stories.  Sarah has the countdown to your coming home on my phone!  You are in our prayers.  2

You all must have tent fever by now.  Sorry about your room mate having to leave I hope he will be okay.  Now we have (2) Randy’s .  Hope the winds die down and all goes well for Monday or Tuesday.  Love you Mom

Hey RC! It is your fellow Bocce World Champion wishing you good luck!  I was going to complain about the weather in Boston until I read what you all are going through.  Hey Randy #2, yeah you, be nice to my Dad…he’s a cool dude.

HTFU and best of luck Dad,

P.S. Don’t worry, your fantasy team is fine and you are sitting pretty in 3rd overall

You guys are doing great! We hope the wind gets tired if blowing so hard and gives you Gus a break. We love you Randy C and are all hoping you can keep on going and that all the patience pays off. But in any case we just want you all to be safe! Love all your kids and me!

This is really cool, Denise, following your journey upward! Be safe and enjoy! (I bet the views are a little bit better than here in Texas!)

We’re rooting for you!

Lew, what Kyle said!!  Be safe and be smart. We are all praying for you here in ice cold Missouri.  When the time is right the mountain will let you go to the top.  Watching your every move.  Kenny

No worries!  The mountain calls the shots…always!  Just stay safe and climb smart!  Well done, dad (Lew Smith)...stay strong and you’ll get to the top, but don’t think about that now.  Just focus on resting easy and preparing yourself for tomorrow.  Best of luck and climb on!!!

Love you,

Kyle and Stephanie
