Good afternoon from Camp 1 again. We changed our plan just a touch, and instead of moving this morning, we did a carry to the Col. We are back to rest for the afternoon, as we continue to trigger our acclimatization process, and having lighten our loads will pay back with hopefully an earlier arrival to high camp tomorrow. We got eyes on the wall as we approached the Col this morning, and everyone got really excited, at the same time as they felt good for the ice climbing training over the last couple winters; the French Direct to Alpamayo is no joke!
Stay tuned for tomorrow's progress,
RMI Guide ElÃas and Team.
The July 15th Elbrus team has rolled into Cheget. It has been a long day of driving, flying and more driving. It is nice to be in the mountains. The team unpacked and quickly set out exploring the cool little ski village of Cheget. Think Aspen...California...Beautiful!!

Greetings loyal RMI blog followers! This is your Expedition Skills Seminar - Peru team calling from the summit of Nevado Urus at 17,600 feet. It's a sunny day as usual in the Cordillera Blanca range of Peru; we are so spoiled down here with perfect weather. We're going to enjoy the sunshine with views of the beautiful turquoise lakes and get down safely, hopefully in a fast order of time and enjoy some home cooked meals. That's all for now. Ciao!

The whole team received an A+ for their homework. They aced the final exam and summer vacation starts tomorrow. What a treat for us as guides when a team takes training serious prior to a climb. A very diverse group when it comes to experience and age. The fact that they all came to the class in the best shape possible puts the chances for a safe summit much more reasonable. What you learn up high is a very unique skill set. The physical and mental demands you are faced with and have to deal with can change your perspective on many facets of our everyday lives down in the low lands. To subject you self to a lack of usual creature comforts by your own submission takes a different sort of duck. I Am very proud of my Tucklings.
A nice send off from our local staff at the Meweka Camp, what a great local crew we had the pleasure to share the mountain with. Three hour descent thru the cloud forest ,get that ,it was cloudy and cool, go figure! A few final pictures at the Kilimanjaro exit sign gate, and then all aboard for the two hour transfer to the Dik Dik lodge for the night. Cleaned up and fired up for the banquet ahead. We will probably cut a swath through our lodge that may take awhile to heal. That's just what the thick air can do to you.

CONGRATS TO TAYLOR AND THE WHOLE TEAM. So glad that you made it up safely. Looks like an amazing experience was had by all. (Taylor, now all you need to do is not getting eaten by any wildlife. I am gonna win that bet with Andrew….I know it.) Enjoy the rest of your trip!
The Five Day Summit Climb led by RMI Guide Steve Gately reached the summit of Mt. Rainier early this morning. Because of weather the team did a "touch and go" summit. They have started their descent and are en route back to Camp Muir.
Congratulations to today's team!
The Four Day Summit Climb led by RMI Guide Leon Davis reached the Crater Rim of Mt. Rainier early this morning. The weather did not allow for the team to spend very much time on top. They have started their descent are now en route to Camp Muir.
Congratulations to today's team!
Good afternoon from Camp 1, aka Moraine Camp. Rain this morning gave way to high clouds, and patches of sun encouraged us to not delay our move up. Even with heavier loads, we beat our time from our carry two days ago, and now we're finding ourselves relaxing in our tents, with the vestibules pointing to the most astonishing views one can hope; Artesonraju, Paron, Paria, Alpamayo, Quitaraju,,, are only a few of the jagged peaks we have in near horizons. We're excited and ready for our move to High Camp tomorrow.
Best regards,
RMI Guide ElÃas de Andres Martos and team.
Hello again from the Ishinca Valley. The Peru Seminar team is in the midst of an afternoon siesta as we recover from our exertion on Ishinca yesterday, and prepare for a climb on Urus tomorrow. Despite sleeping in and having a lazy breakfast this morning, we managed to spend a few hours training on crevasse rescue and snow anchor construction.
All in all the team is doing quite well. We have battled sporadic GI challenges and a bit of discomfort from altitude, but the team is taking care of themselves and their perseverance is making all the difference. Group dinners are funny and full of lively conversation. As guides it is incredible to watch a team come together and be a strong functional unit. Now that we are a week into the program, it seems like we are firing on all cylinders and ready to take on any challenges that present themselves on the next two peaks.
All for now,
RMI Guides Eric Frank, Robby Young and the Peru Seminar team
Hello everyone:
Not much to report today, other than everybody slept very soundly last night after some much needed sleep. It was a pretty relaxing day here in Cheget and we ventured out to have lunch at a local restaurant that has a small trout pond, but we opted to leave the fishing up to the locals. After lunch the team wandered through this very small town and did a little shopping too.
We have just finished dinner and a little ceremony where we handed out certificates, congratulated everyone and said a big thanks to our local outfitter for all of their help.
Tomorrow it's off to beautiful St. Petersburg!
RMI Guide Casey Grom
The Mt. Rainier Summit Climb team, led by Kel Rossiter, reached the summit at 6:00 a.m. The team was above the clouds, with the cloud deck hovering around 11,000ft. After spending an hour on top, they began their descent.
Congratulations to today's climbers!
Enjoy the safari! Again, take lots of pictures!!!!
