RMI Guide Elias de Andres Martos checked in this morning with the great news that he and 100% of his team reached the summit of Alpamayo. The team climbed strong and reached the top at 6:30 am local time. Elias reported very cold temperatures. They are back at camp resting now and will check in later today.
Congratulations Team!
Good morning from Camp 1 on Alpamayo! There were several other teams at basecamp so we got an early start for our move uphill in order to get claim the prime real estate here at Moraine Camp (Camp 1). So here we are, all camped up, enjoying the views, and getting mentally ready for our move up to Camp 2 tomorrow. The weather continues to be perfect, our bodies are performing well, and all is pretty much lined up for us to have a good climb.
That's all for now. We'll check in tomorrow.

Good evening! We enjoyed a sunny rest day at Alpamayo Base Camp. The weather here is incredible, and we took a small hike to Arwaycocha Lake a few hundred feet above camp to stretch our legs before reviewing climbing techniques with our ropes and hardware in the vicinity of our tents.
We are hoping to head to Camp 1 tomorrow morning. We are all doing great and excited to move uphill.

Greetings again from Alpamayo Base Camp. We took advantage of the great weather we have and decided to hike up to Camp 1 and do a carry today. We will rest tomorrow instead and let our bodies acclimatize... but we have already reached 5,000 meters! We are all enjoying a good time here and besides the astonishing views, the highlight continues to be our cook Emilio's food; fresh trout with quinoa from his farm has been definitely the biggest hit so far. That's it for now!
Stay tuned,

Good evening from Alpamayo Base Camp. We have spent the last couple days hiking on the Santa Cruz trek to get here. We have had beautiful weather and incredible views that the towering peaks around us provide. Tomorrow our donkeys head home and we start the more serious part of the trip. Stay tuned to follow our progress in the beautiful and challenging peak!

Hi from Huaraz! The team started its adventure in the Cordillera Blanca today with our classic hike up to Lake Churup at 4200m, just shy of Mt. Rainier's summit elevation. We had a beautiful day that prompted great views of the mountains. We had a leisurely afternoon, enjoyed a great team meal and arranged our duffels for tomorrow. We'll be writing next from our camp on our approach to Alpamayo basecamp tomorrow.
Have a great night,
ElÃas de Andres Martos and team
Hi all from Huaraz,
The team arrived last night form our expedition. Everybody is real well, and despite the challenges faced on this climb, we're happy with the hard work and patience that we had to exercise. One note, we got to within 100m from the top, not 800 as my voice dispatch made it sound... we got so close!!! But safety is number one priority, and bailing after 10 hours of climbing, while a hard decision, is a great lesson to put things in perspective. We're now headed to the Lima airport, in great spirits and ready to think of the next adventure. Thanks to Fatima, Todd, Kirk and David for their incredible hard work and doing so well on this trip.

Hello! This is ElÃas and the team calling from the summit ridge of Artesonraju. We’ve been climbing since midnight. It’s 10:20 local time. We’re super-psyched, but unfortunately we cannot reach the summit. We are literally a stone’s throw from the top, and it’s got a hefty cornice, and it’s very dangerous. We don’t find it worth it to continue the last 100 meters to the top, so we’re headed down. That’s it for now!
Elias calling from the Summit of Artesonraju July 6, 2017
The RMI Artesonraju team made a summit attempt yesterday, reaching 5,600 meters. Technical difficulties kept them from continuing, but the team is giving it another try tonight. Stay tuned!

Hello everyone. We are ready to launch. We enjoyed the rest at our high camp at 15,925' on Artesonraju, and we are almost ready for bed in anticipation of our early alpine start. We hope to call in from the summit tomorrow.
