Mt Rainier: Four Day Climb Enjoys Fourth of July Summit

RMI's four-day climb led by guides Eric Frank and Tom Skoog reached the summit this Independence Day morning! They reported moderate winds and a small cloud cap, and are currently on their descent back to Camp Muir. They will return to Ashford this afternoon.

Mt Rainier: Five Day Climb Turns due to High Winds

The five-day climb led by RMI guide Ray Holt used their second night at Camp Muir to attempt to summit Mt Rainier. Due to high winds, they turned around at the top of the Disappointment Cleaver.

Mt. Rainier: Four Day Climb Teams on Summit!

The Four Day Climb teams for June 20 - 23 reached the summit of Mt. Rainier this morning around 6:40 am.  The team reported great conditions and a beautiful day. They will descend to Camp Muir, take a short break and continue down to Paradise later this afternoon.

Mt. Rainier: Four Day Teams Stopped by High Winds

The Four Day Climb June 14 - 17 led by RMI Guides Joe Hoch and Jess Wedel were turned around by high winds at 10,300'.  The telemetry at Camp Muir is showing wind gusts up to 48 mph. The teams returned to Camp Muir and enjoyed a bit of rest and perhaps a nice sunrise.  They plan to descend from Camp Muir around 9:30 am.  We look forward to seeing them at Rainier BaseCamp this afternoon.

Rainier: Four Day Climb Turns at the Top of the Disappointment Cleaver Due to Route Conditions

RMI teams led by guides Joe Crawford and Hannah Blum set out to summit Mt Rainier this morning, but turned around at the top of the Dissapointment Cleaver due to route conditions. They are on their way back down to Camp Muir and will be back in Ashford later today.

Well…certainly a disappointment for the climbers and the guides. But…given the conditions and everyone is back safely, not an outcome that qualifies for criticism. Thank you and best regards to all involved in this climb.

Mt. Rainier: Four-Day Climb Turns at 12,450’ due to Snow Instability

RMI teams led by guides Will Ambler and Joe Crawford made their summit attempt this morning. As a result of recent snow accumulation and strong winds on the upper mountain, they found evidence of snow instability and decided to turn around at 12,450'. The teams had made their way back to Camp Muir and are doing additional training for the remainder of the morning.

Mt. Rainier: Wittmier, Skoog & Teams Reach Summit

The Four Day Climb June 1 - 4 reached the summit of Mt. Rainier this morning led by RMI Guides Dustin Wittmier & Tom Skoog.  Dustin reported moderate winds but blue skies above as they were approaching 13,500' just after 7 am today. The team reached the summit and is currently on their descent to Camp Muir. Once back at Camp, they will take a short break before continuing down to Paradise. Their program will conclude this afternoon at Rainier BaseCamp.

Mt. Rainier: King and Four Day Climb Team Reach Summit!

The Four Day Climb May 24 - 27 led by RMI Guide Mike King reached the summit of Mt. Rainier via the the Ingraham Direct route this morning just before 8 am.  Mike reported windy conditions and a lot of hard work by the team.  They are currently on their descent to Camp Muir. Once back at Muir, they will take a short break before continuing to Paradise. Their program will conclude later this afternoon at Rainier BaseCamp.

Mt. Baker: Easton Glacier Wedel & Team Reach the Summit

Early this morning, RMI Guide Jess Wedel led her team to the summit of Mt. Baker via the Easton Glacier route. After taking in the stunning views from the top, the team descended safely back to Sandy Camp. They'll spend one more night there before making their final descent to the trailhead tomorrow morning, wrapping up a successful and rewarding climb.

Mt. Rainier: Four Day Climb with Wittmier and Whatford Reach Summit

The Four Day Climb August 7 - 10 led by RMI Guides Dustin Wittmier & Tatumn Whatford reached the summit of Mt. Rainier around 6:30 am today.  Tatum reported that it was a little windy and a little cold but it was turning into a beautiful morning on the mountain. The teams spent about an hour in the summit crater before starting their descent.  Once back at Camp Muir they will take a quick break and repack their gear before contining the final 4.5 miles to Paradise.
