The Five Day Climb June 20 - 24 reached the summit of Mt. Rainier at around 7:30 am this morning. After spending an hour on the summit enjoying their accomplishment, the teams started their descent back to Camp Muir. Once back at Camp Muir they will savor some much needed rest and enjoy a day of training on the upper mountain. After spending one more night at Camp Muir the teams will desend to Paradise and return to Rainier Basecamp in the afternoon tomorrow to celebrate their success.
Nice work team!
Our first Kautz Seminar of the season May 25 - 30, led by RMI Guide Ben Ammon, has spent the past several days training and establishing two expedition-style camps on the mountain. Today, the team made their summit attempt ascending the Kautz Ice Chute. However, moderate winds and light precipitation prevented them from reaching the summit. They are now descending and will return to camp for a final night on the mountain. Tomorrow, they will complete their descent to Paradise before heading back to Rainier Basecamp to conclude their program.

Hello! The team just got back to camp after a sunset climb on the Easton Glacier. It was a hazy but beautiful climb. We'll get some well earned rest and walk back to the trailhead in the morning.

Our Expedition Skills Seminar on the Paradise Glacier led by RMI guide Jackson Breen spent the week focusing on and developing foundational mountaineering skills while ascending the less traveled Paradise Glacier route to our high camp: Camp Muir. Establishing tented camps, they ascend the Paradise Glacier using the mountain's terrain to learn mountaineering skills such as snow & ice anchors, crevasse rescue, ice climbing, fixed line travel, belaying, and other technical skills. The team completed their week by reaching the summit of Mt. Rainier via the Disappointment Cleaver route.
Congratulations Team!
Such a wonderful trip! Still reeling. Looking forward to the next one ;)
