Kautz Climb: Team Turns in Ice Chute Due to Snow and Ice Conditions

Five-day Kautz climb led by RMI Gudie Sam Marjerison turned around shortly after heading up into the ice chute after snow and ice conditions proved to be inadequate to climb. The recent snow and wind has continued to affect the Ingraham Direct route, and the Kautz is seeing a similar result, as well. The team will return to Ashford this afternoon.

Mt Rainier: Four Day Climb Turns at Ingraham Flats Due to Avalanche Conditions

The four-day climb turned around at Ingraham Flats on their summit attempt this morning due to avalanche conditions. They enjoyed a beautiful sunrise! They will be descending back to Paradise later this morning.

We weren't able to summit this morning after multiple days and multiple feet of new snow. But we took advantage of the perfect weather for a classic stunning sunrise at Ingraham Flats!

Mt. Rainier: Four Day Climb Unable to Climb above Camp Muir due to weather

RMI Guide Dustin Wittmier checked in from Camp Muir at approximately 7:00 a.m. High winds and blowing snow prevented the team from making a summit attempt today. The team plans to begin its descent from Camp Muir later this morning and is expected to return to Ashford this afternoon, where they will conclude their program.

Mt. Rainier: Teams Led by Hahn and Hedreen Turn at 13,300’

The Four-Day Climb (June 5 - 8) led by Dave Hahn and George Hedreen turned at 13,300' today due to deteriorating weather. They will be back in Ashford this afternoon.

Mt. Rainier: Four-Day Climb Turns at 12,450’ due to Snow Instability

RMI teams led by guides Will Ambler and Joe Crawford made their summit attempt this morning. As a result of recent snow accumulation and strong winds on the upper mountain, they found evidence of snow instability and decided to turn around at 12,450'. The teams had made their way back to Camp Muir and are doing additional training for the remainder of the morning.

Mt. Rainier: June 6th Summit!

The Four Day Climb led by RMI Guide Dominic Cifelli and Ben Luedtke reached the summit of Mt. Rainier today. The teams were in and out of the clouds as they climbed into a cap to reach 14,410'. It was cold with a steady breeze, but the team pushed through to reach the top.

Mt. Rainier: Teams Led by Hoch and Ammon Turn at 10,640’

The Four Day Climb (June 2-5) led by Joe Hoch and Ben Ammon turned at the top Cathedral Gap (10,640’) early this morning due to strong winds that were making climbing and continuing uphill very difficult. They are back at Camp Muir and plan to descend from Paradise later this morning. They will be back in Ashford this afternoon.

Mt. Rainier: Expedition Skills Seminar led by Leif Bergstrom reaches summit via Emmons Glacier

The Expedition Skills Seminar - Emmons led by RMI Guide Leif Bergstrom reached the summit of Mt. Rainier today via the Emmons Glacier.  The team bumped up to Camp Schurman yesterday putting their glacier travel, ice ace arrest and cramponing skills they learned over the last few days to the test. Once back to Camp Schurman, they will enjoy the afternoon and evening.  Tomorrow they will break camp and descend to the trailhead, returning to Ashford tomorrow afternoon.

Mt. Rainier: Wittmier, Skoog & Teams Reach Summit

The Four Day Climb June 1 - 4 reached the summit of Mt. Rainier this morning led by RMI Guides Dustin Wittmier & Tom Skoog.  Dustin reported moderate winds but blue skies above as they were approaching 13,500' just after 7 am today. The team reached the summit and is currently on their descent to Camp Muir. Once back at Camp, they will take a short break before continuing down to Paradise. Their program will conclude this afternoon at Rainier BaseCamp.
