Fuhrer Finger Climb: Team Pivots to Kautz & Turns at 12,100’

The Fuhrer Finger climb led by RMI guide James Bealer pivoted to climbing the Kautz route due to unstable snow conditions in The Finger. On their summit attempt, they turned around at 12,100' due to extreme winds and unstable snow. They are on their descent from the Wilson Bench this morning and will return to Ashford later this morning.

Mt. Rainier: Teams Led by Hahn and Hedreen Turn at 13,300’

The Four-Day Climb (June 5 - 8) led by Dave Hahn and George Hedreen turned at 13,300' today due to deteriorating weather. They will be back in Ashford this afternoon.

Mt. Rainier: Wittmier, Skoog & Teams Reach Summit

The Four Day Climb June 1 - 4 reached the summit of Mt. Rainier this morning led by RMI Guides Dustin Wittmier & Tom Skoog.  Dustin reported moderate winds but blue skies above as they were approaching 13,500' just after 7 am today. The team reached the summit and is currently on their descent to Camp Muir. Once back at Camp, they will take a short break before continuing down to Paradise. Their program will conclude this afternoon at Rainier BaseCamp.

Mt. Rainier: Five Day Climb Reaches the Summit

RMI Guides Mike King and Avery Stolte and the Five Day Climb Teams reached the summit of Mt. Rainier at 7:50am this morning. Mike reported a chilly morning with light winds. Both teams are on their descent back to Camp Muir and will head back to Paradise tomorrow.

Mt. Rainier: Four Day Team Turns at 10,800’

The Four Day Climb led by RMI Guide Joe Hoch turned at 10,800' at Cathedral Gap due to snow instability and potential avalanche danger.  The team returned to Camp Muir and plans to start their descent to Paradise around 9:30 am.  They will be back at Rainier BaseCamp in the early afternoon.

Mt. Rainier: Expedition Skills Seminar - Muir Team Reaches Summit After Completing Training

The Expedition Skills Seminar - Muir May 2 - 7 led by RMI Guides Mike King and Sam Hoffman met for a day of training and gear checks at Rainier BaseCamp and then headed onto the mountain.  The team ascended to Camp Muir on Sunday and has enjoyed sunshine and blue skies during their training. Climbers practiced ice arrest, crevasse rescue and glacier travel before making their summit attempt.  Today the team launched from Camp Muir with an alpine start, reaching the summit of Mt. Rainier at sunrise via the Ingraham Direct route. RMI Guide Sam Hoffman reported sunshine and moderate winds during their summit climb. The team has returned to Camp Muir where they will spend their final night on the mountain. Tomorrow they will descend to Paradise and return to BaseCamp to conclude their program.

Mt. Rainier: Paradise Seminar Completes Training

The Paradise Seminar August 22 - 27 led by RMI Guide Nick Sinapius is completing their training and their program today. After several days of training on the lower slopes of Mt. Rainier, the team bumped their camp near Camp Muir yesterday and was ready to put their training to the test. Unfortunately, the weather and route didn't quite cooperate for them to make a summit attempt.  The team is now descending to Paradise.  They will conclude their program this afternoon with a small celebration of their adventure.

Mt. Rainier: Four Day Climb Teams with Wittmier & Bennett Reach Summit

The Four Day Climb August 17 - 20 led by RMI Guides Dustin Wittmier and Mike Bennett reached the summit of Mt. Rainier this morning.  The teams delayed their departure from Camp Muir a bit due to the colder tempertures, with a 2 am departure, they reached the summit around 8 am.  They enjoyed some time on the summit before turning around and retracing their steps.  Once back at Camp Muir the team will repack and continue their descent to Paradise.

Mt. Rainier: Four Day Teams on the Summit with All Climbers

RMI’s Four Day Climb, Aug 11-14 successfully reached the summit of Mt. Rainier today.

They reported 100% of the team was on top enjoying the calm weather and beautiful views this morning.

They are currently descending and will take a short but much needed break at Camp Muir before heading down to Paradise later this afternoon.

Mt. Rainier: Beautiful Morning on the Summit for the Four Day Climbs

With calm and beautiful skies, the Four Day Climbs led by RMI Guides Casey Grom and Dustin Wittmier reached the summit of Mt. Rainier this morning. The teams spent time on the summit enjoying the views of the 8,000' cloud deck blanketing the lower elevations. Currently on their descent to Camp Muir, the teams will be back in Ashford later this afternoon.
