Mt. Elbrus: Justman & Team Acclimate on the Mountain

Hello - We are checking in live from the huts on Mt. Elbrus at a grand altitude of 12,001 feet. We have settled into our cozy home with gear and clothing splayed out all over! The team took a hike up to 13,104 feet today and we returned for a great lunch made by our Executive Chef Masha. I'm not lying when I say we had caviar...we did. We are slowly adjusting to the new altitude. After doing this adventure year after year after year I firmly believe the reason why our teams do so well is our relaxed itinerary. Mt. Rainier: Summit Climbs Unable to Climb Due to Weather

The Four Day Summit Climb teams led by RMI Guides Win Whittaker and Geoff Schellens were unable to make a summit attempt of Mt. Rainier due to poor weather. The teams experienced high winds, hail, rain and lightening overnight, fortunately they remained safely tucked in a Camp Muir. The teams will start their descent from Camp Muir later this morning and will arrive at Paradise in the early afternoon. Tyler Reid and the Expedition Skills Seminar Team - Emmons called from Camp Schurman. All is well with the group. They dressed to climb during a small weather window @ 2am this morning but were shut down by hail and lightning. They have around 4 inches of wet snow at Schurman. I estimated about a foot of new up high on the mountain and Tyler says it is probably more. They are training intermittently today and will head down tomorrow morning.

Good Afternoon, This is the Alpamayo Climbing Team calling from Camp 2. We had a really good climb to here this morning. We arrived a couple of hours ago. It is 4:00pm local time, everybody is enjoying some resting time in the tent. We are melting water right now; you can probably hear the stoves. The weather is really good - stable. We are looking at the face, we might be climbing tonight, but we are going to see how it goes through the afternoon before we make a decision before we go tonight. Or we might take a rest and do it the next day. We will keep you posted. Everybody is doing well. That’s if for now, Elias’ is out. We will call again tomorrow. Mt. Elbrus: Grom & Team See the Sights and Bid Farewell to Russia

Our final night in St. Petersburg! The team had a great last day here in Russia, with a visit to several beautiful churches full of mosaics. We then visited the very famous Hermitage Museum, where we saw paintings and sculptures by many well-known artists including Picasso, Rembrandt, and even Da Vinci. We took a small break and wrapped up the day with a fantastic evening boat cruise to see this amazing city by water. It's been a wonderful adventure here in Russia, but it's time to say our goodbyes and return to family and loved ones. Thanks for following, RMI Guide Casey Grom and crew

Mt. Rainier: Summit Climb Teams on Top!

Both the Four and Five Day Mt. Rainier Summit Climb teams tagged the top! RMI Guides Mike Haugen and Pete Van Deventer reported a sleet/snow mix and moderate winds. At 8:45 a.m. they radioed basecamp to say they are beginning their descent.

Triscuit! I’d leave you a tour update but you know I don’t follow that stuff at all! Sorry. Take good care of yourself, and J-Lo of course, and enjoy the breathtaking scenery!! Alpamayo: Elias & Team Stay One More Night at Camp 1

Good afternoon. This is the Alpamayo climbing team. It's 2 PM local time, calling from Camp 1. We decided to stay here. Different factors made the decision happen... some of them, a little bit of a dust of snow last night and a lot of teams coming down from High Camp made us decide to wait another day here and enjoy the benefits of acclimatization at this elevation. The plan is to move up tomorrow and, hopefully, climb the next day. Everything's looking good -- weather, team spirits, and everything. So, we'll keep you posted in a couple days, hopefully from the summit. Regardless tomorrow we'll check in from High Camp. I hope everybody back home is doing well. Take care. Hello everyone! Today was our travel day from the mountain to St. Petersburg. It was a pretty long day with the four-hour bus ride to the airport and then a three-hour flight. It was a pretty uneventful day, but the team is doing very well. Everyone is happy to be here in this beautiful city and looking forward to our city tour tomorrow. RMI Guide Casey Grom and crew

Sometimes the most difficult part of any expedition is just getting on the mountain. Today, our Elbrus team got one step closer. We jumped on a flight from Moscow and arrived in Mineralnye Vody and then had a 2 1/2 hour shuttle ride to arrive in Cheget. We are now sitting under the glistening Caucasus Mountains that surround the valley. Some of our team are exploring the shops in town while others are sorting mountaineering gear. At 7:05 a.m. RMI Guide Brent Okita and his summit climb team were five minutes from Mt. Rainier's crater rim. The route work, completed yesterday, was great and well wanded. Brent also reported great weather. Congratulations to the team!
