Shishapangma: Arrival in Kathmandu

We have arrived today the 5th in Kathmandu. The trip, rather long, went smooth. Tomorrow we are going to do some shopping for personal food and logistics and we plan on leaving for Tibet on Wednesday. We will keep you posted! RMI Guide Elías de Andrés Martos

The experience is exciting for all of us.  Thank you for sharing.  The quiet fall Rockies seem inviting for a snowy winter - but missing their best two climbers. 
On Sunday I attend a Tibetan dinner in Colorado; I will send many good thoughts your way - perhaps you will see them in the prayer flags!!

Mt. Rainier: September 5th Update

The Four Day Summit Climb reached the summit this morning at 7 a.m. RMI Guides Brent Okita and Tyler Reid radioed from Columbia Crest reporting light winds and clear skies. They began their descent at 8:15 a.m. and will check in from Camp Muir before starting the last leg of their journey back to Paradise. Congratulations!

RMI Guides Depart for Shishapangma!

RMI Guides depart for Shishapangma (26,289’)! On the morning of September 3rd Rainier Mountaineering, Inc. guides Jake Beren, Elias De Andres Martos, Geoff Schellens, Erik Frank, Leon Davis, and Bridget Schletty departed from Ashford, WA USA, en route to the Tibetan Himalaya. Their goal is the fourteenth highest mountain in the world, Shishapangma. The team will attempt the mountain without the benefit of supplemental oxygen or Sherpa support. In addition Jake Beren has brought his skis! If conditions are right Jake hopes to make a ski descent. Stay tuned for dispatches and photos as this intrepid group of climbers make their way to the top of the mountain and home again. Safe travels!

Mt. Rainier: September 4th Summit!

RMI Guide Casey Grom led our summit climb teams to the top of Mt. Rainier this morning. The temperature is warm, the skies are clear and the winds are calm. What a day to be standing on the highest point in Washington! The teams began their descent back to Camp Muir at 7:25 a.m. Congratulations to today's teams!

Mt. Rainier: September 3rd - Summit!

Our Four Day Summit climb teams led by JJ Justman and Billy Nugent stood on the summit of Mt. Rainier this morning. The Teams were able to spend some time on the summit as the winds were calm and skies were clear. They have started their descent and are on the way back to Camp Muir. Congratulations to today's Teams!

Mt. Rainier: September 2nd Update

The Four Day Summit Climb August 30 - 2 September led by RMI Guides Chad Peele and Andy Bond were unable to reach the summit of Mt. Rainier. The teams were forced to turn around at approximately 12,100' today due to very high winds and returned to Camp Muir safely. As of 7:00 a.m. PT strong winds were still gusting at Camp Muir. The teams are expected to depart from Camp Muir at 10 a.m. PT en route to Paradise.

Mt. Rainier: September 1st Summit!

The Four Day Summit Climb August 29 - 1 September led by RMI Guides Brent Okita and Pete Van Deventer reached the summit of Mt. Rainier today. The teams reported cold temperatures with clear skies and moderate winds during their climb. They will return to Camp Muir and continue their descent to Paradise later this afternoon. Mt. Rainier: August 31st Summit!

The Four Day Summit Climbs August 28 - 31 led by RMI Guides Dave Hahn and Tyler Jones reached the summit of Mt. Rainier today! The teams reported they were climbing in their down parkas due to the cold temperatures this morning. They had good visibility with a broken cloud layer above at approximately 16,000' and light winds throughout their summit climb. Both teams will descend to Camp Muir and return to Paradise later this afternoon. Congratulations to today's Summit Climb Teams!

Mt. Rainier: August 30th Summit!

The Four Day Summit Climb August 27 - 30 led by RMI Guide Seth Waterfall reached the summit of Mt. Rainier today! The teams were approaching the crater rim just after 7:00 a.m. PT. They reported clear skies above 7,500' with light winds. The teams will spend some time on top before starting their descent back to Camp Muir. They will return to Paradise later this afternoon. Congratulations to today's Summit Climb!
