The
Four Day Summit Climb August 27 - 30 were unable to reach the summit today due to high winds and deteriorating weather.
RMI Guides Mike King and Gloria Roe led their teams to the top of Disappointment Cleaver before making the decision to turn back as the winds were high and the cloud cap that had formed around the summit began to creep lower on the mountain. The teams returned to Camp Muir and will descend to Paradise this morning.
The
Four Day Summit Climb August 26 - 29 reached the summit of Mt. Rainier on a beautiful, clear day.
RMI Guides Steve Gately and Bryan Mazaika led their teams this morning, reaching the crater rim just before 7AM PT. The teams will enjoy the views from the crater before starting their descent. Once back at Camp Muir they will rest and repack and then continue down to Paradise. This afternoon their program will conclude with a ceremony at Rainier BaseCamp.
Congratulations to today's climbers!
What a day!
From the full moon that illuminated our wake up, to the radiant sun that shone all day, we had an incredible climb up the
Fisher Chimneys Route, to the Curtis Glacier, to the summit pyramid. Few attempt the entire route from Lake Ann, but determined climbers seemed to push this guide up the mountain, and the long feat, was executed with ease. We're now crawling into our sleeping bags, after our camp dinner that tasted heavenly, since all we had all day was chocolates and bars...
The smoke from fires seems to be fading, and the ambiance from camp is rather idyllic.
We'll hike out tomorrow with hopes of enjoying a hearty brunch in town.
Good evening from Lake Ann!

The

RMI Guides Brent Okita and

They will spend some time in the crater before starting their descent. Upon their return to Paradise they will transfer to Rainier BaseCamp and conclude their program with a short celebration.
Congratulations to today's climbers!
We are back at Sandy Camp, our high camp on the
Easton Glacier. We got a break from the rain today, waking to clearing skies and a beautiful morning. Our team worked hard and did a great job, and everyone made it to the top! The views from the summit looking towards Shuksan and Mt. Rainier were spectacular. We plan to leave high camp at 2pm and will be in touch when we get back to town this afternoon or evening.
