The Four Day Summit Climb teams led by RMI Guides Walter Hailes and Hannah McGowan reached the summit of Mt. Rainier early this morning. The team reported clear skies all the way to the top!

Update at 7:00 a.m. - RMI Guide Leon Davis and his team are on the Mt. Rainier summit! The weather is sunny skies and winds about 20 mph with a cloud deck just below 10,000'. The team is currently on top and will check in with us when they begin their descent.
Congratulations to today's summit climb team!
The Expedition Skills Seminar - Paradise, led by RMI Guide Andy Bond, was on the Mt. Rainier summit just before 7:00 a.m. They are enjoying the Cascades Mountain views above a sea of clouds. The team has been on the mountain since Monday learning many mountaineering skills to prepare for bigger mountain objectives, such as Denali in Alaska. We look forward to hearing about their week of adventure this afternoon.
The Kilimanjaro Climb & Safari August 5 - 19 has come to an end. The team enjoyed our final night in Africa at the Balloon Camp - Tarangire. Today we traveled back to Arusha and returned to the hotel where we first met two weeks ago. We enjoyed one last meal together as a team, repacked packed bags and headed to the airport. Everyone will be traveling to their respective homes over the next 24 hours. We had a grand adventure!
Until next time,
RMI Guide Mark Tucker

Jambo!
Life does not get much better that this. We are living in the moment, sitting around the fire watching an incredible African sunset. The accommodations and surrounding area are the very best, and we are having so much fun! We wish you all were here!

The Four Day Summit Climb August 14 - 17, 2017 led by RMI Guides Casey Grom & JM Gorum reached the summit of Mt. Rainier around 6:30 am today. The teams enjoyed a bit of time on the crater before starting their descent. They will return to Camp Muir for a short stop before continuing down to Paradise. We look forward to seeing them at Rainier BaseCamp later today.
Congratulations to today's Summit Climb team!
I was a part of the group from NY and I only made it to the Disappointment Cleaver (DC). However I had a great time and learn a lot. JM & Casey were both great leaders and lots of fan to be with. Thank you both .

What a great team and awesome accomplishment! Congrats!
We spent the day cruising for wildlife in a caldera. Ngoronoro Crater didn't disappoint. There was fairly heavy cloud glued to the crater rim in the morning when we were working around the circumference, but as we dropped into the interior, we got under the weather and enjoyed fine visibility. We saw vast quantities of wildlife including herds of wildebeest, cape buffalo and zebra. There were hippos galore and dozens of colorful birds. The big male lion stole the show as he ambled down the road right next to our vehicle. We finished in the forested area and had the luck of observing a large female lion hanging in a tree taking a nap. Life in the bush is good. The team continues to persevere despite the fine dining and very comfortable rooms. More adventures ahead tomorrow!

The Mt. Elbrus North Side expedition is a wrap. As I write, I am sitting in the Amsterdam airport, and the team is in the process of scattering to the winds; some will continue traveling, while others are headed home to family and friends. It's amazing that the trip is already over, as it flew by. We spent yesterday on a walking tour of the best cathedrals, gardens, and palaces of St. Petersburg. The sheer size and scale of St. Isaac's Cathedral was stunning, the luminous mosaics of the Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood were fascinating, and the history of the founding of the city and derive during WWII were enlightening. We wandered through the Hermitage, as enthralled with the architecture and ornate rooms as we were with the collection of some of the world's finest art. Degas, Renoir, Michalangelo, Picasso, and so many more were on display. We finished up the trip with a delightful boat tour in the River Nieva, seeing St. Petersburg from the vantage that most in 1800 would have seen it, via the canals. Finally we gathered one last time at the Jerome for a last celebration dinner before we parted.
It's been a fantastic trip, with an smashing bunch of new friends. We had great weather, a perfect summit day, built a hut, and tried to become a bit more worldly along the way. So many thanks to this group of climbers. Mike and I had so much fun, and we look forward to crossing paths in the mountains again soon!
RMI Guides Pete Van Deventer and Mike Uchal
