Eric Frank and the
Expedition Skills Seminar - Emmons were unable to reach the summit of Mt. Rainier this morning due to route conditions. The team climbed to 10,800' before being forced to turn around. Despite being unable to summit, Eric and the team enjoyed and incredible meteor shower in the early hours of the morning.
The team is back at Camp Schurman and plans to spend the rest of the day doing crevasse rescue and ice climbing training around camp. Tomorrow the team will descend from Camp Schurman. We look forward to greeting them in Ashford tomorrow afternoon.
The Four Day Summit Climb led by
RMI Guides Mike Walter and Leon Davis stood on the summit of
Mt. Rainier this morning. Mike reported great weather with no clouds and light winds. The teams began their descent at 7:45 am. We look forward to seeing everyone back in Ashford this afternoon.

The
Mount Rainier Four and Five Day Summit Climbs, led by
Kel Rossiter and
Ben Liken, reached about 12,300 feet before thunder and lightning forced the team to turn. The team is safely back at Camp Muir and began their descent to Paradise at 9:00 a.m. The skies are currently hazy with a fair amount of smoke in the skies from various wildfires in eastern part of Washington.
Geoff Schellens and the Expedition Skills Seminar - Kautz turned from their summit attempt yesterday at 13,300 feet. They will finish their day of training and be back at RMI Basecamp later this afternoon. The RMI Expedition Skills Seminar - Emmons, led by
Eric Frank, checked in from camp this morning. Their team is doing well, training today, and preparing for their summit bid in the morning.

Brent Okita and the
Four Day Summit Climb team were walking onto Columbia Crest, the highest point in Washington State, at 7:05 am this morning. The team climbed into a light cloud cap, but otherwise had calm weather. They are now en route back to Camp Muir.

Five Day Summit Climb led by RMI Guide
Zeb Blais reached the summit of Mt. Rainier at about 6:50 am this morning. The team climbed into a cap with some high winds and a bit of rime. They have started their descent and are en route back to Camp Muir.

Mike Walter reached the summit of Mt. Rainier today. Mike reported broken clouds in the valley and clear skies above Paradise with light winds from the southwest. The team has started their descent and are now en route back to Camp Muir.

Eric Frank led their Four Day Summit Climbs to the summit of Mt. Rainier this morning. Billy reported lots of climbers on the route and light winds. The teams are enjoying some time on the summit before beginning their descent. We look forward to seeing the teams in Ashford this afternoon.

Elias de Andres Martos and
Kel Rossiter led our Summit Climb teams to the top of
Mount Rainier this morning. Their views spanned out to Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Adams and other peaks in the Cascade Mountains. Both teams began their descent after 8:15 a.m.

Brent Okita radioed from the top of Columbia Crest, the highest point in Washington! There were 30 – 35 mph winds this morning and nice weather. The cloud deck is below
Camp Muir. The teams will spend some time on the summit before starting their descent.

Pete Van Deventer and his
Expeditions Skills Seminar - Emmons will be traveling back to Rainier Base Camp later today.

Peter Whittaker, Ed Viesturs, and Zeb Blais called in after their successful
Mount Rainier summit! The teams ascended the Disappointment Cleaver Route in chilly temperatures, winds about 30 mph, and clear skies. Their ascent took 5 ½ hours.

Pete Van Deventer called from the Mount Rainier summit! At 10:20 a.m. the
Expedition Skills Seminar team reached the top via the Emmons Glacier Route. They will spend some time taking in the summit views before descending back to Camp Schurman. We look forward to congratulating them in person tomorrow when they descend off the mountain.
