Mt. Rainier: Four & Five Day Summit Climbs Reach Summit

RMI Guide Casey Grom radioed from the summit of Mt. Rainier at 7:33 am with his Four Day Summit Climb Team along with the Five Day Summit Climb led by Lindsay Fixmer. The Four and Five Day Summit Climb teams reported great conditions on the mountains and a beautiful day with barely any winds. The teams were going to start their descent just before 8 am and will return to Camp Muir and then continue to Paradise. We look forward to seeing them at Rainier BaseCamp later this afternoon. Congratulations to today's Summit Climb teams!

Mt. Rainier: June 22nd Update

The Mt. Rainier Four Day Summit Climb led by Mark Falender reached the summit at 6:00 a.m. this morning. At 7:15 he radioed from 13,000’ on their descent reporting blue skies, a bit chilly and light winds. Congratulations! The Expedition Skills Seminar - Emmons led by Seth Waterfall are traveling to the White River Campground beginning their approach to Camp 1.

Mt. Rainier: June 21st Update

At 7:20 a.m. PT the Mount Rainier Four Day Summit Climbs led by Kel Rossiter and Zeb Blais were just about to crest the crater rim. They reported 10 mph winds from the north and perfectly blue skies. Congratulations to today's summit climb teams!

Just want to acknowledge the great experience we had with our RMI guides. Zeb, Christina and Nick were absolute aces guiding us to the top. They were spot on from the orientation, training and especially through the climb. I can’t imagine a better team and thank them for a great experience. Hope we can all meet up again…

Mt. Rainier: June 20th SUMMIT!

The Four Day Summit Climb led by RMI Guides Brent Okita and Mike Soucy was 30 minutes from the crater rim at 7:40 am as reported by Camp Muir. Camp Muir reported calm winds, and clear skies. The team will spend a bit of time on the summit before starting their descent. The Expedition Skills Seminar - Emmons spent a misty afternoon practicing crevasse rescue and ice climbing skills on the Emmons Glacier near Camp Schurman The spent the evening in camp, having dinner, relaxing, and celebrating an exciting, strenuous and very windy climb to 13,200' yesterday. The team is descending from their camp this morning and will return to Ashford this afternoon around 3:30 pm. Congratulations to Today's Teams!

Mt. Rainier: June 19th Update

RMI Guide Seth Waterfall and the Four Day Summit Climb teams were approaching the crater rim at 7:29 a.m. PT. They reported very cold and very windy conditions on the Disappointment Cleaver Route. The teams will be starting their descent soon after reaching the summit. RMI Guide Solveig Waterfall and the Expedition Skills Seminar - Emmons aborted their summit bid at 13,200' due to high winds and blowing snow. They are descending back to Camp Schurman.

The Four Day Summit Climb led by JJ Justman was approaching Mt. Rainier's crater rim at 6:50 am along with the Five Day Summit Climb led by Mark Falendar. JJ reported clear skies above and light wind. The teams will return to Camp Muir and then continue their descent to Paradise. The Expedition Skills Seminar – Kautz climbed through the Kautz ice chute this morning. Their team made good work of the route and they were going to enjoy a short break off Wapowety Cleaver as this will be their high point for the trip. The team will return to Ashford later today. We look forward to seeing the teams back at Rainier BaseCamp this afternoon. Congratulations to today's Four and Five Day Summit Climb teams!

Mt. Rainier: Four Day Summit Climb and Expeditions Skills Seminar - Kautz Updates

RMI Guide Pete Van Deventer checked in from Camp Muir at 6:45 am. The Four Day Summit Climb team was forced to turn around at Ingraham Flats due to deteriorating weather. They experienced gusty winds, drifting snow and heavy precipitation. Camp Muir had a small accumulation of snow throughout the morning. The Expedition Skills Seminar - Kautz led by Elias de Andres Martos checked in from their high camp. The team was expecting to make their summit attempt today but we unable to do so due to the poor weather. The team experienced a very stormy night with consistent winds. The Four Day Summit climb will return to Rainier BaseCamp later today. The Expedition Skills Seminar - Kautz will continue their training and spend another night on the mountain. They will return tomorrow afternoon.

The teams reported clear skies and good climbing conditions with some chilly temperatures. They were able to enjoy some time on top today and began their descent around 9:20 am. Mt. Rainier: June 15th Update

The Four Day Summit Climb led by Walter Hailes reached the summit of Mt. Rainier this morning around 7:40 am. The team spent an hour on the summit with clear skies around them. Walter reported a cloud deck at approximately 8,500’ and decreasing winds. The team began their descent just before 9 a.m. Happy Father's Day!

The Four Day Summit Climb Teams Led by JJ Justman and Lindsay Mann reached the summit of Mt. Rainier early this morning. The teams reported great climbing conditions with winds of about 5 - 15 mph as they climbed above the clouds. The teams will spend some time on the summit before starting their descent back to Camp Muir. Congratulations to Today's Teams!
