Wonderful that the weather has cleared for the top-out.  We received a note early yesterday from Alysse that all was well—that was important!  Thanks and we will see and talk with you soon.

Looking for info on Sheldon Spivey a Georgia climber who is there attempting to summit Rainer

Posted by: Diana Spivey on 6/1/2014 at 8:58 am

Reading the sad news from MT Rainier - it does not
appear to be Robert’s team led by Matt Emht that
was lost but a team led by Matt Hegeman taking the Liberty Ridge route.

Prayers to all involved.

Mt. Rainier: Expedition Skills Seminar Ascends to Camp Muir

Hi this Seth. I'm up at Camp Muir with this week's Expedition Skills Seminar. We had a really fun walk up the Muir Snowfield today. We had expected rain and it started out like that but after a couple of hours we broke into some sun! The clouds were in and out for the rest of the day so we stayed pretty dry. We are all settled in at camp now getting ready for our first night on the mountain. RMI Guide Seth Waterfall

Mt. McKinley: Okita and team Fly onto Glacier

May 22, 2014 - 11:00 pm PT Our day started great. Breakfast at the Roadhouse again and an early departure from Talkeetna, courtesy of the best air service in town: K2 Aviation. The first hint that conditions were not warm and pleasant came when we landed on some pretty hard snow. Then getting out of the plane we were hit by a chilly wind. But, everyone was excited to be on the mountain and we just put on a few more layers. Our climb to camp went well, though we were challenged the whole day by that irritating and cold breeze. But that sure didn't slow the team down any. Everyone really did well on this ordinarily difficult day with the heavy loads we were sporting. A quick dinner in bed and the team is now resting comfortably in their tents, getting ready for tomorrow and Ski Hill. Thanks to the tireless efforts of Leah and Nick who have been making sure that were all fed and ready for tomorrow. Wish us calm winds and more pleasant travels tomorrow. Goodnight from 7,800' Camp on the Kahiltna Glacier. RMI Guides Brent, Leah, Nick and the whole Team

Alaska Seminar: Davis and Team work on Glacier Travel

May 20, 2014 - 11:57pm PT Today was a glorious day full of sun and cooler temperatures. We left camp early this morning and headed west, down to the main flow of the Kahiltna glacier. The team got first hand experience of how we move across such massive fields of ice and the views both up and down glacier were amazing. Felt like we were in the middle of the middle of nowhere. Our objective was a small formation called the pizza wedge and as we got closer the crevasses got bigger. So big that our desired approach was cut off by a 200' wide crack over a mile long. Despite being rewarded with great weather and cooler temps, this years snow isn't making things easy. So we trekked back to camp and resumed training for a full day tomorrow of crevasse rescue and beacon searches. All is well and beautiful here! RMI Guide Leon Davis & Team
