The Expedition Skills Seminar - Emmons Team led by RMI Guide Robby Young were turned at 13,200' on their summit attempt of Mt. Rainier via the Emmons route due to high winds and deteriorating weather. The team will be spending the afternoon learning crevasse rescue, and plan to return to Ashford Basecamp tomorrow afternoon.

RMI Guides Brent Okita, Jenny Konway and Matt Rosenberg led the Four Day Summit Climb of Mt. Rainier June 17 - 20, 2017. The team arrived at Camp Muir yesterday afternoon. They began their alpine start around midnight and climbed to 13,500' before deteriorating weather and poor visibility forced them to turn around. The team will return to Camp Muir and then continue to Paradise. We look forward to seeing them at Rainier BaseCamp later today.

RMI Guide Christina Dale led the Five Day Summit Climb June 15-19 on Mt. Rainier. The team ascended to Camp Muir on Saturday and spent the following day training at Camp Muir. This morning they made their summit attempt but due to new snow over the last few days the conditions today did not allow their team to summit. They have safely returned to Camp Muir. They will repack their gear and continue their descent to Paradise later today.

The June 16 - 19 Four Day Summit Climb led by RMI Guide Paul Rachele was forced to turn around at 12,500' due to route conditions. Several days of poor weather and snow accumulation provided difficult climbing conditions for today's team. They have returned safely to Camp Muir and will continue their descent to Paradise this afternoon.

The Four Day Summit Climb team for June 15 - 18, 2017 was unable to make a summit attempt of Mt. Rainier this morning due to inclement weather. The team will descend to Paradise this afternoon and return to Rainier BaseCamp.
RMI Guides Mike King, Jenny Konway, Jessie Poquerusse and Ben Ammon are leading the Expedition Skills Seminar - Emmons June 11 - 16, 2017. The team met on Sunday and spent the day discussing logistics of the trip including an equipment check and some technical training. Their second day was spent on the slopes above Paradise practicing rope travel, ice axe arrest and cramponing techniques. On Tuesday morning they loaded up in the shuttle and drove to the White River Campground where they met the trail head and started their climb. Yesterday they moved to Camp Schurman at 9,440' and have continued their training. This morning they made their summit attempt but due to low visibility and tough walking the team made the tough decision to turn around 11,400'. They have returned to Camp Schurman where they will do some additional training. They will spend their last night on the mountain tonight and start their descent tomorrow. We look forward to seeing them back at Rainier BaseCamp tomorrow afternoon.

The Four Day Summit Climb June 12 - 15 led by RMI Guides Win Whittaker and Paul Rachele enjoyed a nice hike to Camp Muir yesterday after completing their Climbing School the day prior. This morning, however, the weather prevented the teams from making a summit attempt on Mt. Rainier. Win reported high winds and precipitation in the form of snow. The teams will descend from Camp Muir and return to Ashford this afternoon.
The Four Day Summit Climb led by RMI Guide Tyler Reid tagged the Crater Rim of Mt. Rainier early this morning. Tyler reported blowing snow and strong winds from the west as they climbed into a cap. The team spent a short time on top before starting their descent to Camp Muir.

The Five Day Summit Climb led by RMI Guide Adam Knoff reached 13,200' on Mt. Rainier today. The team reported blowing snow and strong winds from the west as they climbed into a cap. With the deteriorating conditions and slow climbing, the team made the decision to turn before the summit.

The Mt. Rainier Summit Climb, led by Mike Walter, reached the summit at 8:20 a.m. With a cloud deck around 8,500ft, the weather was sunny and no wind for the climb. The team is working their way down the mountain and we look forward to congratulating them this afternoon!
What an awesome experience! Thx to Mike, Leah, and Caleb. You guys are awesome. Enjoyed meeting everyone on our climb team.
