Mt. Rainier: Emmons Seminar Reaches the Top!

The Emmons Seminar team, led by RMI Guide Christina Dale, summitted Mt. Rainier this morning.  At 12:20 pm the team was back at Camp Schurman where they will stay for the night and descend tomorrow.  Christina reported that 100% of the team reached the top!  Congratulations!!!

Mt. Rainier: August 8th Update

RMI Guide Ty Reid and the summit climb team were approaching the true summit of Mt. Rainier, Columbia Crest, at 6:20 a.m.  The weather is warm and not smoky above 12,500’.  By 8:35 a.m. the team was at the top of Disappointment Cleaver on their descent.

Mt. Rainier: August 8th Five Day Summit Climb Team Reaches the Top!

The Five Day Summit Climb led by RMI Guide Solveig Waterfall reached the summit of Mt. Rainier early this morning.  Solveig and team spent two nights at Camp Muir taking advantage of extra day to acclimate to the higher elevation. This payed off with a successful climb this morning! The team has started their descent and are en route back to Camp Muir.

Mt. Rainier: Young & Team Summit!

At 6:40 am the Mt. Rainier summit climb team started their descent from the crater rim.  Lead Guide Robby Young reported a smoky haze below the summit but clear skies at the top.  The team is currently working their way back to Camp Muir.

Mt. Rainier: August 6th Summit!

The Four Day Summit Climb led by RMI Guides Geoff Schellens and JM Gorum were walking onto Columbia Crest, the very top of Mt. Rainier at 6:10am this morning. The team reported warm temperatures, calm winds, and clear skies above the smoke layer that is currently covering the lower elevations of Western Washington.

Mt. Rainier:  Summit Climb Teams on Top!

The Mt. Rainier Summit Climb, led by Eric Frank and Andy Bond, reached the summit at 6:15 a.m.  With good weather and light winds, they are on their way back to Camp Muir.

Mt. Rainier: Four Day Summit Climb Team on Columbia Crest

The Four Day Summit Climb August 1 - 4, 2017 reached the summit this morning around 6 am.  The team reported clear skies with lots of shooting stars and a view of the Northern Lights.
After enjoying some time on Columbia Crest, the team began their descent.  They will make a stop at Camp Muir to repack and refuel and then continue down to Paradise.

Mt. Rainier: Kautz Seminar Team On Summit!

RMI Guide Walter Hailes and the Expedition Skills Seminar - Kautz July 30 - 4 August, 2017 reached the summit of Mt. Rainier today.  After several days of training in Ashford and on the mountain the team left their High Camp this morning en route to the summit of Mt. Rainier.  The team arrived at Columbia Crest around 5 am and enjoyed the views from the summit before starting their descent.  Today is the last day of their program and they will return to the trail head and back to Rainier BaseCamp this afternoon.

RMI Guides Brent Okita & Pepper Dee led their Four Day Summit Climb teams to the summit of Mt. Rainier this morning.  The enjoyed blue skies and a great climb.  They will return to Camp Muir and then continue down to Paradise.

Mt. Rainier: Five Day Summit Climb Team Reaches Summit

On Sunday, the Five Day Summit Climb team hiked out of Paradise to the training area to learn the necessary skills to summit Mt. Rainier.  The following day the team hike to Camp Muir for their first night on the mountain.  They spent time yesterday gaining more experience cramponing and working as a rope team then return to Camp Muir to prepare for their summit attempt.  All of their training paid off and the team enjoyed the views from the summit of Mt. Rainier this morning, reaching the crater rim around 5:30 am.  After celebrating their accomplishment and taking photos, they will descend to Camp Muir to rest and repack before continuing their descent to Paradise.  They will end their program with a celebration at Rainier BaseCamp this afternoon.
