Mt. Rainier: RMI Teams Summit!

On a calm and cold morning, RMI Guides Eric Frank and Andy Bond led their teams to the summit of Mt. Rainier.  They are above the clouds enjoying the sun on their descent.

Mt. Rainier: Emmons Seminar Team on Summit!

RMI Guide Zeb Blais checked in from the summit of Mt. Rainier today.  Zeb and the Expedition Skills Seminar ascended via the Emmons Glacier from Camp Schurman this morning.
The team started their program with two days of training in Ashford and Paradise before departing early Sunday morning for the White River Trail head.  After two nights on the mountain, expedition style camping and mountaineering training the team made their summit attempt this morning. They will return to Camp Schurman this afterrnoon and spend a final night on the mountain.  Tomorrow they will break camp and return to the trail head.

Mt. Rainier: Okita, Ebeling and Team Reach the Summit!

The Five Day Summit Climb led by RMI Guides Brent Okita and Chris Ebeling reached the summit of Mt. Rainier this morning. Brent reported clear skies and light winds of about 20 mph. The team will descent back to camp Muir for their final night on the mountain.

Mt. Rainier: Five Day Summit Climbs Turned Due to Weather

The Five Day Summit Climb June 7 - 11, 2018 made their summit attempt of Mt. Rainier this morning but were turned back at 11,200ft due to poor weather and route conditions.  RMI Guides Jenny Konway and Jordan Cargill reported several inches of new snow at Ingraham Flats.  The teams returned safely to Camp Muir and will descend to Paradise later this morning.

Mt. Rainier: Four Day Summit Climb Team Turns at 13,500’

The Four Day Summit Climb Teams led by RMI Guides Dave Hahn and Christina Dale reached High Break at 13,500’ on Mt. Rainier before high winds forced the team to turn.  Dave reported very strong winds and clouds above and below the them. The team has started their descent and are en route to Camp Muir.

Mt. Rainier: Four Day Summit Climbs Reach Summit!

RMI Guides Mike Haugen and Hannah McGowan led today’s Four Day Summit Climb to the summit of Mt. Rainier.  They reported cold and windy conditions today but not enough to turn them around.  They will return to Camp Muir for a quick rest and repack and then will continue down to Paradise.

Mt. Rainier: Four Day Summit Climbs on Top!

The Four Day Summit Climb June 4 - 7 reached the crater rim at 7AM PT today.  RMI Guide Geoff Schellens reported a nice day with light winds.  The team will enjoy the views from the summit for a bit before starting their descent.  Once back at Camp Muir the teams will re-pack and continue down to Paradise.

RMI Guide Brent Okita radioed at 6:52 am PT as the Four Day Summit Climb teams were approaching the crater rim.  Brent reported chilly temps and light winds.  They will enjoy some time on the summit before starting their descent. They will return to Camp Muir and then continue to Paradise.

Mt. Rainier: Summit Climb Teams On Top

Summit!
At 8:45 am RMI Guide Dave Hahn radioed to say, “We are walking into the Crater Rim.”  The mountain has a cloud cap with some high winds and also some sunny skies.  The teams will spend some time on top before starting their descent.

Mt. Rainier: Four Day Climb Turns at 13,500’

The Four Day Summit Climb led by Geoff Schellens and Jenny Konway turned this morning at 13,500’. The team made the call to turn around after experiencing high wind gusts on the upper mountain. They called in from about 12,300’ at 7:00 AM PT and reported good views and a steady descent.
