Thanks to JJ, Jess, and Bridgette for guiding on the climb.  I couldn’t have imagined a better experience. First of many mountaineering experiences, glad you guys were part of it.  Looking forward to my next climb and hope to summit rainier with you another go around.

Rainier due to unstable snow conditions.  The Teams turned at 11,654’ on Disappointment Cleaver and are now safely back at Camp Muir.  They will start their descent and be back to Rainier Basecamp in the early afternoon.

Just spoke with a team member and learned of the incredible experience he had inspite of not making it to the summit. This grateful mom is thankful for the guides sound decision making! Congrats to all!

Four Day Summit Climb

Mt. Rainier: September 4th Update

The Mount Rainier summit climb teams, led by RMI Guides Eric Frank and Zeb Blais, were unable to summit this morning and turned on the Disappointment Cleaver.  Although the weather was clear, calm, and cold, the avalanche danger and new snow kept the team from continuing their summit bid.  Both teams are safely back at Camp Muir and are planning a 9:00 a.m. departure to begin their descent to Paradise.

I know you are disappointed you didn’t get to summit, but we are so proud of all of you.  Can’t wait for you to come home so we can celebrate!

The Four Day Summit Climb led by RMI Guides Mike Walter and Pete Van Deventer turned at Disappointment Cleaver due to fresh snow on the route with high avalanche conditions.  The teams have left Camp Muir and are en route to Paradise.

Sorry for the bad luck. I was at same spot in 2012 and had to turn back due to snow danger. The mountain will be there tomorrow.

Four Day Summit Climb

Mt. Rainier: September 1st Teams Reach 12,600’

The Four Day Summit Climb teams led by RMI Guides Jake Beren and Mike King turned around at Camp Comfort on Mt. Rainier this morning. While climbing, the teams encountered moderate winds and knee to thigh deep snow. We look forward to greeting the climbers in Ashford this afternoon.

Great team, poised to get to the top. Like we say in mountaneering: the mountain just didn’t want us up there, this time. We’ll try again another day. :-)
Thank you Mike, Bridget, Steve, Jake, Lance, all of the RMI guides - you guys really tried.
Cheers,
DanP
