Mt. Rainier: Paradise Seminar Team Reaches Summit

The Expedition Skills Seminar - Paradise August 13 - 18 reached the summit of Mt. Rainier this morning with clear skies and an overall gorgeous day. RMI Guide Jenny Konway reported that her team members were 100% successful to the summit. This team has spent several days on Mt. Rainier gaining mountaineering skills in preparation for their summit attempt. They have gained instruction and expedition style climbing skills which will prepare them for future expeditions to Denali or other big peaks. Today is the final day of their program. Once they return to Camp Muir they will pack up and continue to Paradise. Congratulations to the Paradise Seminar team!

Mt. Rainier: Okita & Four Day Summit Climb Team Enjoys Gorgeous Day

RMI Guide Brent Okita and the Four Day Summit Climb team were approaching the crater rim at 6:40 AM today. Brent reported a windless and gorgeous day. They will spend some time enjoying the views from the summit before descending to Camp Muir and then to Paradise. We look forward to seeing them at Rainier BaseCamp later today. Congratulations to today's Summit Climb team!

Mt. Rainier: August 17th Teams on Top!

The Four Day Summit Climb led by RMI Guides Steve Gately and Ben Liken reached the summit of Mt. Rainier at 7 am today. Steve reported light winds, warm temperatures, and the smoke haze is starting to clear. The team spent about an hour on the summit enjoying the views before starting their descent. Congratulations to today's team!

Mt. Rainier: Kautz Team Turns at 13,200’

The Expedition Skills Seminar - Kautz team with RMI Guide JM Gorum slowly worked their way up the Katuz Ice Chute today, but route conditions on the Wapowety Cleaver did not allow the team to climb beyond. The team in on the descent working their way back to high camp. The Team will spend the evening on the mountain. Tomorrow morning will be spent wrapping up their mountaineering skills training, and they will descend to Paradise in the afternoon. Congratulations to today's team!

Rainier: August 16th Teams Summit!

The Four Day Summit Climb Teams led by RMI Guides Casey Grom and Jess Matthews reached the summit of Mt. Rainier today. Jess reported moderate winds and clear skies on the upper mountain. The teams left the crater rim at 7:36 am and are making their way back to Camp Muir. Congratulations to today's teams!

Mt. Rainier: Five Day Summit Climb Summits!

RMI Guide JT Schmitt led his Five Day Mount Rainier team to the summit this morning. After spending two nights at Camp Muir, they began their morning with an alpine start working their way to the highest point in Washington. They are descending back to Camp Muir and then will continue off the mountain this afternoon. Congratulations to today's summit climbers!

Mt. Rainier: August 15th Update

At 7:36 am the Mt. Rainier Summit Climb team, led by Robby Young, was walking off the crater rim. Their ascent took 6 1/2 hours this morning with colder than forecasted weather and a really nice day. We look forward to congratulating them this afternoon!

Mt. Rainier: Bond and Expedition Skills Seminar - Emmons Team Summit

The Expedition Skills Seminar - Emmons team led by RMI Guide Andy Bond reached the summit of Mt. Rainier today. Andy and team worked their way up the to the summit via the Emmons Glacier and were standing on Columbia crest. The team will enjoy the views from the top before starting their descent. They will spend more time training at Camp Schurman and return to Ashford Basecamp tomorrow! Congratulations to the Emmons Team!

Mt. Rainier: Walter & Four Day Team Reach the Summit!

The Four Day Summit Climb Team led by RMI Guide Mike Walter reached the summit of Mt. Rainier early this morning. Mike reported clear skies and light winds above the smoke haze plaguing the lowlands that is sitting around 10,000'. They have started their descent and are making their way back to Camp Muir. Congratulations to today's team!
