Mt. Rainier: Four Day Summit Climb Teams on the Summit!

RMI Guides Brent Okita & Geoff Schellens led their Four Day Summit Climb teams to the summit of Mt. Rainier this morning. The teams were able to spend about an hour enjoying the views on the summit. They began their descent from the crater rim just before 8 am. They will return to Camp Muir to rest and repack before continuing down to Paradise. Congratulations to today's teams!

Mt. Rainier: August 16th Summit!

RMI Guide Brent Okita and the Four Day Summit Climb reached Columbia Crest, the highest point on Mt. Rainier and in Washington State this morning. Brent reported gorgeous weather and an improved route. The team will spend some time on the summit before beginning their descent to Camp Muir. At Camp Muir the team will rest and repack before continuing their descent. We look forward to seeing them in Ashford this afternoon. Congratulations climbers!

Mt. Rainier: August 11th Summit!

RMI Guide Brent Okita and the Four Day Summit Climb team were walking onto Columbia Crest, the highest point in Washington State, at 7:05 am this morning. The team climbed into a light cloud cap, but otherwise had calm weather. They are now en route back to Camp Muir. Congratulations to today's teams!

Mt. Rainier: August 6th Update

At 7:10 a.m. RMI Guide Brent Okita radioed from the top of Columbia Crest, the highest point in Washington! There were 30 – 35 mph winds this morning and nice weather. The cloud deck is below Camp Muir. The teams will spend some time on the summit before starting their descent. RMI Guide Pete Van Deventer and his Expeditions Skills Seminar - Emmons will be traveling back to Rainier Base Camp later today.

RMI Guide Brent Okita with the Four Day Summit Climb along with RMI Guide Mike Uchal and the Five Day Summit Climb were approaching Columbia Crest, the highest point on Mt. Rainier, at 7:00 am. Brent reported light winds and clear skies on a beautiful morning. The teams will spend some time on the summit before beginning their descent. Mt. Rainier: July 25th Update

The Four Day Summit Climb led by Brent Okita and Peter Van Deventer did not reach the summit this morning. The teams left Camp Muir at about 1:00 am in full hard shell layers, but it was not match for the weather. The team made the decision to turn at Ingraham Flats. They will be departing Camp Muir at around 8:30 this morning and be back in Ashford in the early afternoon. Congratulations to today's teams!

Mt. Rainier: July 20th Update

RMI Guide Robby Young called at 7:01 am as he and his Mount Rainier Four Day Summit Climb team were starting their descent from the crater rim. Robby reported clear skies and a light, cool breeze from the NW. RMI Guide Tyler Jones and his Mount Rainier Five Day Summit Climb made a sunset climb last night and reached the summit at 8:45 pm with 100% of their team. He commented that it was the most beautiful sunset he has ever seen. Tyler's team is safely back at Camp Muir and will begin their descent later this morning.

Both teams began their descent from the crater rim a little after 7 am. They will return to Camp Muir and then continue their descent to Paradise.
