Mt. Rainier: Okita & Mazaika Take Their Teams to Ingraham Flats for Acclimatization

Our hike up to Camp Muir yesterday was beautiful. The nicest day of the season! This morning we climbed the first 1,000' of the route to Ingraham Flats as part of our acclimatization for the climb. Reports from other guides suggest our route is the nicest, most direct route we could ask for. We're all excited! We'll have a meeting to go over preparations for the climb tonight then get to bed before our pre-dawn departure. Wish us well. RMI Guides Brent Okita, Bryan Mazaika and the crew at Muir

Mt. Rainier: Five Day Climb Starts Off the 2019 Climbing Season

What a few days it's been. After a productive and fun day at our climbing school on Saturday we were excited about the perfect day we had yesterday for our hike up to Camp Muir. At times it was almost too hot as the sun's radiation backed. But we all persevered and made it to Camp Muir doing well. Unfortunately, today we received some bad news when the guides kicking in the route discovered a crevasse preventing forward progress up to the higher reaches of the mountain. That, coupled with some not insignificant avalanche hazard from a couple of unexpected evening snow storms has forced us to temper our ambitions for the summit this go around. While disappointed, the team was understanding and in full agreement that getting down safe and sound was our priority. While a handful of folks opted to descend to the comforts of life at sea level, the rest of us explored the upper mountain as much as we could and had a great day enjoying the glaciers and crevasses of Mt Rainier. Later, as the now normal afternoon snow storm continues to dump snow at Muir here, we're passing the afternoon and evening talking about mountains, climbing and the tall tales that take root in such firmament. We're planning on an early departure tomorrow morning when we hope the skies will have cleared and the sun will shine on our descent. See you soon. RMI Guides Brent Okita, Dustin Wittmier, James Bealer and the team

Mt. Rainier: Poor Weather Keeps October 1st Team from Reaching the Summit

The Four Day Summit Climb Teams led by RMI Guides Brent Okita and Bryan Mazaika spent a stormy night at Camp Muir. They woke very early in the morning to blowing snow and whiteout conditions that forced the team to go back to bed for a few hours. They woke up again for breakfast, and the skies started clearing. The team decided to make the best of the morning and are going for a walk to Ingraham Flats so that they can see the upper mountain. This is the final climb of Mt. Rainier for our 2018 season, they will enjoy this views from the flats before heading back to Paradise. Congratulations team!

Mt. Baker: Mazaika & Team Summit with 100%!

Sunday, September 9, 2018 - 1:20 PM PT RMI Guide Bryan Mazaika called from the summit of Mt. Baker this afternoon. The team attempted the climb a day early to take advantage of a forecasted lull in the rainy weather. The decision proved wise as the team was able to summit 100% in dry weather! They will make their way downhill to camp where they will pack up and exit the program a day early to beat the coming rain and snow. Congratulations team!

Mt. Baker: Mazaika & Team on the Summit!

7:58 AM PT Hi this is Bryan calling from the Mt. Baker Coleman-Demming climb. We went up and over the Roman Wall and the team is celebrating on the summit as we speak. We have beautiful conditions, calm winds, sunny and reasonably clear. We have great views of the North Cascades, Glacier Peak and Mt. Rainier from a distance. We are enjoying our break up here and we will spend a little bit more time. We have a solid effort to get back to our camp at Hog’s Back. Everyone is doing great. When we get back to camp we will pack up and eventually we will head out back to Glacier. We will wrap of the trip with a celebration with pizza and beer. IT’s been a solid effort by the team, we are super proud of everyone. Thanks for following. RMI Guide Bryan Mazaika

Incredible adventure. Powerful, intimate bonding time for this “dad” to be given this opportunity to climb with my son’s Kevin and Chase. Unforgettable!
Our guides were amazing!
To Mike, Bryce and Matias
Thank you so much for guiding us safely with your incredible knowledge and experience. However, it was your personal touch you guys poured into us that made the trip an unforgettable memory. The stories you told unfolded into a passion for what you guys do and brought so much life into our trip. All of you were genuinely were interested in who we are as well. Inquiring about our lives and sincerely wanting to know more about us made us feel like companions (Family).
Bryce, thank you. You kept us safe. I owe you a Diet Pepsi, and more
Blessing to you all
Enjoy Life!
