Early up, early down. You would be amazed at what you can accomplish before noon when you have a strong team. We're all together here at our 10,000ft
Camp Mweka. A tired crew for sure but that can't hide the glow on their sunscreen faces. A bit breezy and temps in the teens couldn't keep the whole boat from dropping anchor on the summit. Altitude records for all but that is so over shadowed by the bond between climbing partners I witnessed this fine day. The compassion exhibited to one another during this physical and mental challenge to people that you just met gives you hope for all mankind. The support, friendliness and caring by our local outfitter, the Dik Dik Lodge, solidifies its world wide. Up early, a few hours down hill, then it's lodge time!

Jambo! All is well at Camp One, otherwise known as
Machame Hut. We are already up at 10,000' for our first night on the mountain. Interestingly 10,000' here is still below tree line whereas back home on Mt. Rainier 10,000' is way above the trees. That's due to the fact that the atmosphere bulges around the equator so 10k here in Tanzania feels lower than 10k in Washington State.
The hiking today was great with just a few sprinkles of rain. My group from last week would have considered this a dry day. We did pull out some rain gear briefly but the trail through the forest was mud free and the temperatures were very pleasant.
We have a real fun group and everyone was chatting away between themselves and with the African guides who will accompany us the whole time we are on the mountain.
We spent a total of 5 hours on the trail and combined with the jet lag should make for hungry appetites and good sleeping tonight. I'll check in again tomorrow.

JJ Justman checked in from the DikDik in Arusha. Team Orlando is off the mountain and celebrated their successful summit of Kilimanjaro by swimming in the hotel pool and enjoying live music.
Tomorrow the team heads to
Lake Manyara for their first day on safari.
Hola from
Mexico City!
The team and I did some last minute shopping today in town to support our adventure ahead. It's a perfect summer day at 7,200 ft, which is a good altitude to start at. It's not too busy here in the Zona Roza area. People are enjoying life all around.
We are going after three big hills on this trip and will be filming along the way. This will be a fun!

RMI Guide Billy Nugent and his Five Day Summit Climb Team reached the summit of Mt. Rainier this morning along with Mike King and the Four Day Summit Climb. Billy reported clear skies and cool temperatures for their climb. Both teams began their descent from the crater rim a little after 9 am PST. The teams will return to Camp Muir and then continue their descent to Paradise. We look forward to seeing both teams back at Rainier BaseCamp this afternoon.
Congratulations to today's
Summit Climb teams.
The Four Day Summit Climb Teams led by RMI Guides Brent Okita and Nick Scott reached the summit of Mt. Rainier early this morning. Brent reported clear skies, light winds and cool temperatures. They will spend some time on the summit celebrating before starting their descent to Camp Muir.
Congratulations Team!
RMI Guide Elias de Andres Martos checked in this morning with the great news that he and 100% of his team reached the summit of
Alpamayo. The team climbed strong and reached the top at 6:30 am local time. Elias reported very cold temperatures. They are back at camp resting now and will check in later today.
Congratulations Team!
A fine adventure was had by all on this Mt. Shuksan Climb! Our team chose the
Fisher Chimneys route and all that it had to offer. This route is fantastic for the variety of conditions it offers, from snow and ice to technical rock and a truly stunning approach via the absurdly picturesque Lake Ann.
We found the mountain to be in perfect shape, with smooth glacier travel and few other climbers on our route. As we made our attempt on the summit, we connected with climbers from the Sulphide Glacier route at the summit pyramid. There's plenty of room for everyone on that mountain and though it was a little busy, we somehow had the summit all to ourselves!
It was a fantastic three days in a crazily beautiful place, shared with a fun team. Peter and Ann rocked and we had a great time learning how to move through the mountains. Thanks everyone!

Hola friends and family! This is Pepper Dee writing along with JJ Justman from
Aconcagua Base Camp. Today was a bit of an action packed outing. We started the day off strong with a mule ride across the Vacas River at dawn to reach the base of the Relinchos Valley (probably the closest the team will ever get to starring in a spaghetti western), and then trekked up the valley all day until we reached Base Camp early this afternoon. Everyone is doing great and is adjusting well to life at just under 14,000 feet. It's very windy around basecamp, and we're hoping the gusts start to simmer down during our rest day tomorrow. Hugs from the team! We'll be in touch tomorrow.

After a good nights sleep and a wonderful breakfast we loaded up the bus and left our cozy hacienda for the famous Otavalo market! We wandered between vendors picking out souvenirs to bring back to all you lovely people reading this blog. With our new treasures in tow we headed to a beautiful restaurant for lunch on Lago San Pablo. After filling up on delicious steaks, seafood, and a variety of classic Ecuadorian dishes like ceviche we made the long drive to our spectacular hut on Cayambe. We rearranged some gear and had another delicious meal prepared by our incredibly kind Ecuadorian hut keeper. As I write this, people lay about, relaxing, reading, and sawing logs before we move yet higher again tomorrow!
