RMI Guide Brent Okita led the Four Day Summit Climb August 7 - 10, 2013 to the summit of Mt. Rainier this morning. Due to a lightening storm in the area the team delayed their start for the summit. Fortunately the weather cleared and they were able to leave Camp Muir en route to the summit. Brent reported a steady 20 - 25 mph with a cap waiting to form. The teams will return to Camp Muir later this morning and then continue to Paradise. We look forward to seeing everyone at Rainier BaseCamp this afternoon. Congratulations to today's summit climbers!

The Four Day Summit climb led by Thomas Greene and Billy Nugent reached the summit of Mt. Rainier this morning. Thomas’ team was starting their descent from the crater rim at 7:45 am. They reported high clouds building, cold temperatures and calm winds. The teams will continue their descent. We look forward to seeing them at Rainier BaseCamp this afternoon. The Four Day Summit Climbs led by RMI Guides Peter Whittaker & Leon Davis reached the summit of Mt. Rainier at 5:00 a.m. Peter reported a beautiful and windless day. The teams began their descent to Camp Muir. They will take a break there before continuing to Paradise this afternoon. Congratulations to today's summit climbers!

We had teams summit via three different routes on Mt. Rainier this morning: Dave Hahn and Jason Thompson led teams via the Disappointment Cleaver Route, Pete Van Deventer via the Kautz Glacier Route, and Garrett Stevens on the Emmons Glacier Route. They reported chilly conditions, winds about 15 mph and sunny skies. All teams had left the crater rim by 7:50 a.m. Congratulations to today's teams!

RMI Guides Adam Knoff and Jake Beren led the Four Day Summit Climb August 3 - 6, 2013 to the summit of Mt. Rainier this morning. They reported a smooth ascent and a beautiful day with barely any wind. The teams began their descent from the crater rim around 7:40 am PT. They will return to Camp Muir to repack before continuing their descent to Paradise. Congratulations to today's summit climbers!

The Five Day Summit Climb led by RMI Zeb Blais and the Four Day Summit Climb led by Solveig Waterfall reached the summit of Mt. Rainier this morning. At 7:03 am the teams began their descent from the crater rim. Solveig reported a beautiful, calm and sunny day from the summit of Mt. Rainier. Both teams will return to Camp Muir for a short break before continuing down to Paradise this afternoon. We look forward to seeing everyone at Rainier BaseCamp this afternoon. RMI Guide Mike Haugen led his team to the Mt. Rainier summit this morning! The team topped out just after 7:00 a.m. in perfect weather conditions. After spending some time enjoying the breathtaking views, they began their descent back to Camp Muir. We look forward to seeing the team back in Ashford this afternoon. The Four Day Summit Climb led by RMI Guide Leon Davis reached the summit of Mt. Rainier this morning at approximately 7:25 am. Leon reported steady winds from the N/NW at 10-15 mph, cold temperatures and a cloud deck below at 10,000'. The Expedition Skills Seminar - Paradise led by Adam Knoff also reached the summit this morning. The teams spent approximately one hour on the summit before starting their descent. Both teams will return to Camp Muir to repack their gear and take a short break before continuing down to Paradise this afternoon. We look forward to seeing them at Rainier BaseCamp later today. Congratulations to today's summit climbers!

Mt. Rainier: Expeditions Skills Seminar - Moves into Camp Muir

Today team Expedition Skills Seminar - Paradise was relieved to crawl out of our tents to clear skies and warm temps. Last night, directly after arriving in camp after crevasse rescue training we were graced with a purifying rain burst but then rudely interrupted by a brief but intense lightning and thunder storm. It cleared in time for dinner and a peaceful sleep. After packing up camp this morning, a stimulating walk through a large crevasse field and icy section brought us to Camp Muir at 10,060 feet. Here we will rest and prepare for our summit climb tonight. Folks are happy to be moved into the bunk house here and even happier to hand off some group gear to a guide heading down hill. Yea for lighter packs! Wish us luck tonight on our climb. RMI Guide Adam Knoff
