RMI Guides Casey Grom and Leon Davis along with their Four Day Summit Climbs remained at Camp Muir overnight due to high winds. The teams were unable to make a summit attempt and will start their descent from Camp Muir later this morning. We look forward to seeing the teams at BaseCamp later today.

Guide Casey Grom checked in with the RMI office. With a bit of a break in the weather the team was going to take a walk on the upper mountain and plan to depart Camp Muir at around 11:30 am today.
The Four Day Summit Climb teams led by RMI Guides Jake Beren and Mike King turned around at Camp Comfort on Mt. Rainier this morning. While climbing, the teams encountered moderate winds and knee to thigh deep snow. We look forward to greeting the climbers in Ashford this afternoon.
Great team, poised to get to the top. Like we say in mountaneering: the mountain just didn’t want us up there, this time. We’ll try again another day. :-)
Thank you Mike, Bridget, Steve, Jake, Lance, all of the RMI guides - you guys really tried.
Cheers,
DanP
RMI Guides Brent Okita and Zeb Blais lead their Four Day Summit Climb teams to approximately 11,400 on the Disappointment Cleaver route before turning around due to avalanche danger higher on the route.
The teams returned to Camp Muir and will begin their descent to Paradise this morning. We look forward to seeing them at Rainier BaseCamp later today.
Poor visibility, high winds and heavy precipitation forced the Five Day Summit Climb led by Lindsay Mann to stay at Camp Muir last night and they were unable to make a summit attempt. Camp Muir received about 6 – 8 inches of new snow. Lindsay and team will be packing up and starting their descent back to Paradise shortly. We expect the team to arrive back at Basecamp in the early afternoon.
The Four Day Summit Climb led by RMI Guide Pete Van Deventer reached the top of Cathedral Gap last night before having to turn back due to high winds of about 60 mph. The team is safely back at Camp Muir. They will wait for a bit of a break in the weather before starting their descent. We expect the team back at Rainier Basecamp in the early afternoon.
Hey Dave Stults et Al, from what I can see seems weather prevented summit. Sorry for that but certainly seems more than wise and sometimes Nature just overwhelms. Take care- Love, Dad
The Four Day Summit Climb teams led by RMI Guides Mike Walter and Mike King were unable to reach the summit of Mt. Rainier today. Last night the teams left from Camp Muir but decided to turn back at Cathedral Gap due to high winds. The teams returned to Camp Muir and will begin their descent to Paradise around 8:30 am
Our Four Day Summit Climbs led by Nick Hunt and Ben Liken reached the top of Mt. Rainier this morning at around 7:06 am. RMI Guide Ben Liken reported sunny skies and light to moderate winds. The team will spend some time on the summit before starting their descent.
Congratulations to today's teams!

Just checking in from camp! All our safe and sound after our successful summit of Mt. Shuksan earlier today.
Original Dispatch
Hey everybody! It is Billy checking in here from the summit of Mt. Shuksan with 100 percent of our crew. We all styled our way up the Central Gully. And yeah, we're enjoying a nice sunny day on top, a little bit of smoke in the air but not too bad, a little bit of breeze but again not too bad. We'll check in once more when we get back into camp safe and sound. So that's all for now. Whelp, see ya.

Congratulations to today's Summit Climb Teams!
Hi all,
Checking in after a great day of anchor and crevasse rescue training out here on the Sulphide Glacier. Our team enjoyed gorgeous views and perfect warm, sunny weather as we continued moving through our Expedition Seminar curriculum. We knocked off around 5:00 this evening and sat for a quick summit briefing in preparation for tomorrow's summit climb... If all goes well we'll be checking in tomorrow from Shuksan's beautiful summit.
Hasta mañana!
RMI Guide Billy Nugent
