Aconcagua: Justman & Team Arrive Base Camp

Hello - Our team has officially arrived at Aconcagua Base Camp, Plaza Argentina at 14,000 feet. It was a beautiful day trekking today. Actually, it was our nicest day so far as we lathered up in sunscreen. Everyone is doing well. Base Camp is quiet. It almost feels like we are the only ones here. Gotta love that! We have set up personal tents and we are now being spoiled with delicious snacks from our Base Camp staff. Everyone deserves a break so stay tuned to find out what we are up to tomorrow here at Plaza Argentina! RMI Guides JJ Justman and Christina von Mertens

Mexico’s Volcanoes: King & Team Set Up Camp on Orizaba

We are currently setting up tents at the Piedra Grande Hut on the lower flanks of Pico de Orizaba. The Team had a very productive rest day in Puebla. Several of them took a city tour while some cruised the markets and town square for people watching and amazing food. The view from our hotel roof was a highlight since all the peaks we have been on and traveling near are visible among the colorful backdrop of Puebla's cathedrals and colorful neighborhoods. The Team is excited for the summit attempt and looking forward to another beautiful sunset here in Mexico. We will hopefully be checking in from the summit tomorrow morning. Thanks for following along! RMI Guide Mike King

Aconcagua: Gorum & Team Enjoy Rest day at Base Camp

Not much to report today. The team did an excellent job resting, with only minor restlessness. We ate a delicious burrito breakfast at a leisurely hour, and went for a short walk outside of Base Camp to get the blood flowing a little bit. After our walk we prepared our gear for the carry tomorrow, and checked in with the Base Camp doctors. Everyone got the stamp of approval to head higher. No surprises there. We're all rested up and ready for a big day tomorrow. We'll let you know how it goes. RMI Guide JM Gorum

Kilimanjaro: Okita & Team Meet in Arusha, Tanzania

July 18, 2017 Most of the team flew in last night, weathering the long flights and time changes admirably. Our hotel, the Arumera River Lodge here in Arusha, Tanzania, is great. They held the restaurant open for us so we could have dinner and decompress from our travels some. This is unlike any hotel I've stayed at. Africa at it's best, with the diminutive antelope called the Dikdik and Blue monkeys running around the grounds filled with tropical trees and vegetation and insects I've never seen before. Kansas it ain't! The drive in from the airport earlier was a forty five minute exercise in restraint as I tried to concentrate on my conversation with the manager of our outfitting company here for Kilimanjaro, while still watching the people and goings on around me. Bikes piled high with crops from the fields, women in beautifully colored saris and everything else that makes Tanzania such a wonderful place to visit. I must confess, this is not my normal expedition. This is a family affair triggered by my sister in laws big birthday and my brother's pulling the strings to make it all happen. Plus, my wife is part of the team too. Thanks Brad! Ahead of us is breaks, our official team meeting and orientation and subsequent equipment check readying us to begin our climb tomorrow of one of the 'Seven Summits,' family style. Now if I can just get over my jet lag. RMI Guide Brent Okita

Aconcagua: King & Team Prepare for Move to Camp 1

Not much to report from Plaza Argentina. We are enjoying our final afternoon at 13,600 feet before heading to Camp 1 in the morning. The weather is clear with calmer winds then the last few days. People are napping, sorting gear and practicing the valuable expedition skill of 'chilling out'. We are looking forward to moving up the mountain and hope the forecasted wind speeds do not materialize. With how connected base camp has been send your loved ones an email, iMessage or whatever digital platform you use and wish them 'good luck' as they climb to 16,400' tomorrow! RMI Guide Mike King

Cayambe Express: Grom & Team Prepare for Summit Attempt

Hello everyone. All is well here in Ecuador. The team got a decent night of sleep here on Cayambe at 15,000'. We got up at 6 am and had a nice breakfast before hiking up to the start of the glacier. We took our time on the hike and enjoyed the beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. It was pretty windy this morning so we kept things brief on our review of glacier travel, then made our way back to the hut for a nice lunch. Currently the team is taking naps or resting outside in the always warming Ecuadorian sun. Our plan is to have an early dinner tonight and try to get a little more shut-eye before our alpine start. We'll most likely get up at 11pm, have a quick breakfast and coffee, then start climbing around midnight to make use of the cooler temps. If all goes according to plan we hope to summit around 7 am give or take a few. As per usual, I'm going to have a mountain trivia challenge where one lucky winner will receive a summit phone call from the Satellite phone. So everyone back home keep your phones nearby, you might be receiving a call from a strange number. Wish us luck! RMI Guide Casey Grom and the Cayambe crew
