After learning cramponing, rope travel, ice axe arrest and crevasse rescue skills, to name a few, the
Expedition Skills Seminar - Muir made their summit attempt today. The teams have been training at Camp Muir since their arrival on Monday.
RMI Guides Pete Van Deventer and
Adam Knoff lead their teams to the summit of Mt. Rainier this morning on a beautiful, clear and windless day. They will enjoy the views, give hugs and high fives and take a few photos before beginning their descent from the crater rim. They will return to Camp Muir for their final night on the mountain. Tomorrow they will descend to Paradise and return to Rainier BaseCamp for a celebration and wrap up of their week together on the mountain.
Congratulations to today's teams!
The
Mt. Rainier Summit Climb teams were unable to summit due to winds and a high level of precipitation. They will leave Camp Muir at 10:00 am and return to Rainier Basecamp early this afternoon.

RMI Guide Pete Van Deventer rolled into the crater of Mt. Rainier. Pete reported a light breeze with some high clouds above and a low marine layer near Paradise. There was a beautiful sunrise this morning as they were making their ascent and the temperature was not too cold. The team will enjoy some time in the summit crater before starting their descent. Once back to Camp Muir they will pack up and continue down to Paradise. A celebration at Rainier BaseCamp this afternoon will conclude their program.
Congratulations to today's Summit Climb team!

We had a great day of training on the lower slopes of the
Easton Glacier today. Some clouds moved over at times, shading us from the sun, which was a blessing. We used our type travel segment to move up the glacier and get a view of the whole route. Things look great and we are set for our summit push tonight!

We had a gorgeous walk into the
Easton on Mt. Baker today. Perfect weather, incredible views, wildflowers, and great company. We're at camp at 6400' at the toe of the Easton glacier, getting ready to enjoy dinner. After a good size day and heavy packs, we are looking forward to our sleeping bags!

I was thinking back to this day one year ago when a group of strangers set out to climb to Camp Muir.
Little did we know the challenges we would face and how we would be far closer then we started and with such an amazing story to tell. Hope everyone is doing well.
