Mt. Shuksan: Nugent & Team Check in from the Sulphide Glacier

Hey, it's Billy here checking in from the Sulphide Glacier on Mt. Shuksan. We're on an expedition skills seminar. All is well here. We had a good day of training despite some moderately inclement weather, a little bit of overcast skies and some rain in the morning. But that didn't stop us from doing the snow school and learning some snow anchors and other skills, and everyone's doing well. Right now things are just starting to clear up actually for the first time so the team is enjoying the views and taking some photos, and we're all hanging out and going to rack out soon and head to bed and looking for another good day of training tomorrow. Alright so I'll call in tomorrow evening and let you guys know how it went. Alright bye for now. RMI Guide Billy Nugent

Rest Day at Camp 2

Today we spent our last rest day of the trip laying around Helicopter Camp (our camp 2). There are actually pieces of a crashed helicopter lying all over camp! Bundles of electronics, sheet metal, etc. can be found scattered about and some creative climbers have even incorporated the debris into rock walls that serve as windbreaks for tents. Our plan is to head up to Camp Cholera tomorrow morning and make a summit attempt on Friday morning, weather permitting. There is some concern about the wind but we'll see what kind of conditions we wake up to. Dan would like to send his love to his family; Kristin, Britta, & Anson. Thanks for following along everyone, we'll try and check in one last time before our summit bid.

Aconcagua: Smith & Team Check-in with Basecamp Doctor

What up Doc! Today we enjoyed our first rest day. We started with a leisure breakfast followed by a visit with the Basecamp doctor. In order to continue up the mountain everyone has to get the ok from Dr. Richard. Richard checked our lung sounds, blood pressure and O2 saturation. The whole team passed with flying colors! With the ok from the doc and the team all feeling good, we sorted our gear for our carry tomorrow. We will move a bunch of gear that we don't need at Basecamp to Camp 1. Not only does this help us get all of our gear up the mountain but this will also help with acclimatization with Camp 1 sitting at over 16,000 feet. It will feel good to continue getting higher and higher up this mountain.

Hasta manana,
RMI Guide Hannah Smith and team

Mexico Volcanoes: Frank & Team’s Rest Day in Puebla

After our summit of Ixta, the team made the journey to the quaint Mexican town of Puebla. We spent today relaxing and soaking up the amenities of the city. The activities ranged from visiting the local artist quarter, seeing the town's oldest library, buying hand made pottery from local artists and catching an afternoon siesta to dodge the heat. We reconvened for dinner at one of the town's favorite restaurants and followed up our meal with some of the best ice cream Mexico has to offer. Currently the team is tucked in for the night, ready for another good night of sleep and looking forward to the final climb of the trip. RMI Guide Eric Frank

Mexico’s Volcanoes: Dale & Team Rest & Recharge in Puebla

After a good night of sleep, lots of coffee, and a two hour breakfast the team explored the city of Puebla today. We love this city for its charm, beautiful churches, and friendly people. The hotel we stay in has a huge rooftop terrace that gives us a view of La Malinche to the North, our last climb to the west and our next goal to the east. Yesterday, as we descended Ixta, our group was tired, wind blasted, and hungry so talk of another mountain was not appealing. But, today is a different story, our team is well fed and rested and happy to embark on the next climb. Here are just a few quotes from the group today: "I've traveled to over 50 countries, and Puebla is blowing my mind!" And, "I'm in a great mood!" Yep, we are lucky to have these folks to climb with. Denali Expedition: Haugen & Team Waiting out the Weather

If you were wondering what kind of scenery you can see while climbing Denali, don't ask us because we haven't seen anything in days! We are living in a giant ping pong ball where white snow meets white clouds. We high fived Tyler Jones's RMI team as they made their way down through the muck headed towards Basecamp. All we need is a short break in the weather and a small assurance that the next camp will not be any worse than here. We are hoping that tomorrow morning gives us what we need. The team really is in good spirits considering the amount of tent time that has been logged during this storm and we are not even really on the mountain yet! There has been nothing but positivity and hard work from our Super Crew. So proud! RMI Guide Mike Haugen

Denali Expedition: Beren & Team Retrieve Gear and Return to 11,000’ Camp

June 3, 2017 Waking early yet again, our team of intrepid mountaineers had a quick breakfast and fired downhill to our cache at 10,000 ft. Once packs and sleds were sufficiently filled we returned back to camp as the rest of the 11,000' Camp inhabitants were poking their heads out of tents. After a big lunch of rosti and stories, the team reviewed some climbing techniques and packed up for our next carry towards 14,000' Camp. If the weather cooperates we will bump supplies uphill tomorrow to set ourselves up to move locations. We have heard that 14,200 feet above the sea is a nice neighborhood and we aim to get in while prices are still reasonable. Location, location, location as they say. The team is still doing great and we are ready for the next step. RMI Guide Jake Beren
