The Four Day Climb team August 9 - 12 led by RMI Guides Andy Bond and Matias Francis reached the summit of Mt. Rainier early this morning. The team enjoyed a spectacular meteor shower as they left Camp Muir on their alpine start and climbed toward the summit. Andy reported a beautiful day with calm winds and warm temperatures once the sun came up. The team was starting their descent from the crater rim just after 6:30 am PT. Once back at Camp Muir they will refuel and repack for the remaining 4.5 miles back down to Paradise.
Congratulations to today's climbers!
RMI Guide Hannah Smith reported very few other climbers and good weather for their climb to the summit of Mt. Rainier today. Hannah led the Four Day Climb August 8 - 11, the team completed Mountaineering School on Monday and ascended to Camp Muir on Tuesday. Once at Camp Muir, they had a few hours of rest before getting an alpine start for their summit climb today. They reached the crater rim around 6 am this morning under blue skies and cool temps. After enjoying some times on the summit they started their descent from summit just after 7 am. Once back at Camp Muir the team will repack and continue another 4,500' descent to Paradise.

RMI Guide Alex Halliday and the Expedition Skills Seminar - Emmons August 6 - 11 team reached the summit of Mt. Rainier today. Alex reported light to moderate winds and sunny skies from the summit at 10:30 am. The route on the Emmons was good up high but challenging at the lower elevations due to bare glacial ice. Today the team will descend to Camp Schurman for their final night on the mountain. Their program will conclude tomorrow with a descent to the trailhead near White River Camp Ground and a return to Rainier BaseCamp.
Congratulations to the Emmons Seminar Team!

After making an essential sandwich stop in Enumclaw this morning we had a lovely hike into the base of the Inter Glacier. Climbing the hard blue glacial ice on the inter glacier put our new found cramponing skills to good use. We are sitting in the fog now hoping it will clear so that we have good view with dinner.

The Four Day Climb led by RMI Guides Dave Hahn and Nikki Champion climbed into a cloud cap with rain and wind, this forced the team turned at 13,200' on Mt. Rainier. Despite turning before the summit due to weather, the sunrise at the top of the cleaver was very rewarding!
The team is back at Camp Muir and will be descending soon.
Congratulations Team!
